I'm not sure if the US can withstand another 4 years of incompetent leadership.
It's hardly new.

When's the last time the US had competent leadership? Truman?

Probably when the British were in charge.

Probably in the geriatric bit . None of us are as young as we used to be!
A lot of people get down a bit that's not aging, mind you. Temporary.

Things move and progress here, more than anywhere I know. It's a hell of a ride.

So to get wrapped up in US messy bi-polar events seem really fatiguing. I think in general people are tired of excess there and seeing it as progress, if you ask me.

There is a lot more liberty here, also in the way that uninvolvement isn't immediately seen as negligence or lax. People wait till they accumulate a mass of data before they start to personally interpret. Which for me is not only familiar but also...logical. Maybe geriatric, as you put it, or male?

But the same applies to Trump ... He couldn’t last more than a few weeks without support from the Senate.
Yep. Trump would have been removed from office after being impeached if it wasn't for a Republican-dominated Senate.

Thought not.

Tom
Yes, I would. I always liked Biden. People aren't only voting for Biden because they don't like Trump. They're also voting for Biden because they like Biden. He did get to where he is now due to people voting for him in the primaries, after all.

Not being Hillary Clinton was largely what got Trump elected.

But he never tried to fake that he wants to be liked. All his opponents do.
I think all politicians want to be liked, and Trump even more than the average politician or human being. He craves attention and positive feedback, and when he doesn't get it he's like a toddler having a tantrum.

...Obama just had one house when he passed his obamacare (and other stuff).
Sorry, that's not correct. Obamacare was passed on March 23, 2010 - when Democrats controlled both the House and the Senate. That's how it managed to pass, because most Republicans were strongly opposed. In the mid-term election of November of 2010, Democrats lost control of the Senate, in large part because Republicans campaigned on repealing Obamacare. That left Obama with a split Congress for the rest of his presidency.

It's true that Trump also had both houses for the first part of his term and didn't manage to accomplish much of what he'd hoped. One problem for the Rs was that Obamacare had become the law of the land and millions of people now had health insurance. Rs could not agree on what should replace Obamacare, and knew they were vulnerable if they took it away completely without something else. So they played it safe and took away the tax penalty for not having insurance, and left the rest intact.

That's a fair assessment I think, it came across to me as a little desperate when the likes of CNN and the New York Times were gushing over Joe Biden's speech when he said, "'There’s never been anything we’ve been able to accomplish when we’ve done it together."

The bottom line is that Donald Trump is a dope, Joe Biden is a dope and it's sad that there is only a choice between the two (and Kanye West!!).
With the slight difference that one is a narcissistic and self-serving psychopath without empathy or compassion... and one isn't.

But sure, lets pretend they are somehow the same as though we have an IQ of 43.

It is always hard to know what is politics versus what is the truth.

I did find a ring of truth in what Trump said about replacing Obamacare. He said once that he had campaigned on replacing Obamacare because the GOP kept claiming Obamacare was expensive and badly designed and they had a much better and cheaper option.
He expected soon after his inauguration the GOP would bring their healthcare solution to his desk to sign but they had nothing to bring!

The New York state attorney general is asking for a court to compel Eric Trump to be deposed in an investigation of the Trump Organization.

James' office outlined the scope of the investigation into whether the Trump Organization "improperly inflated the value of Mr. Trump's assets on financial statements in order to secure loans and obtain economic and tax benefits."
Source

This is a seperate investigation from the Manhatten prosecuter Vance into Trump's tax returns.

This one is based on Trump's former attorney Michael Cohen who testified before Congress that Trump's annual financial statements inflated the values of his assets in order to secure favorable loans and insurance coverage, but deflated the value of other assets in order to reduce real estate taxes.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Does shouting into an empty auditorium even make sense?

And when did the Democratic party become socialists? In most civilised countries they still would be right of centre.

Well I suppose this kind of thing will appeal to the already committed Trump/Republican voters. But is it going to sway democrats or undecided voters?

Je ne pense pas.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Karma!
Trump mocked the NC convention because they had fewer TV viewers than 2016, now we have the official numbers.
Quote:
GOP convention's first night draws fewer viewers than Democratic kickoff

The Republican National Convention averaged 15.9 million viewers on its opening night, falling short of the 18.7 million who tuned in for the beginning of last week's Democratic convention, according to Nielsen Media Research figures released Tuesday.
Source

GOP convention's first night tried to portray Trump as a warm person with empathy.

How long will it be before Trump breaks out and tweets the opposite picture?

Edit; The first night of the Republican National Convention averaged 15.9 million viewers on Monday, a sharp drop of 28% from 2016.

It's interesting that she claims that Democrats want to "destroy this country." Trump has been in office for almost four years now, and the US is in the worst shape it's been in in a very long time. She comes off as someone so full of rage that it's made her irrational.

The Democrats want to destroy the country, take away the suburbs, bring in Socialism. Everything is socialism. It‘s scary and it‘s bad and dangerous. Very dark, very scorched earth. But look at how great things are with Trump. If everything is so great, why must they pander to this dark fear. And the screeching.

Did you know that Guilfoyle is the former wife of the current CA governor. Politics is a small place. At least she‘s recovered from COVID -19..

Tiffany?
Also a point to be made ,Barron's mammy was a undocumented immigrant ( worked in the us on a visitor's visa ) one of trumps biggest complain
