Seems to me that you are the one with a strong bias. The BBC is renowned for its balanced reporting. You, on the other hand... Well, you're not.

BBC fact check of Biden's DNC speech
WAS renowned, unfortunately not anymore. The BBC comes in for a lot of stick, some of it is unwarranted however much of it is. Still better than most media outlets it has forgotten its impartiality of late as "auntie" struggles to remain relevant. Most apparent where the BBC has even given up on impartiality is in the culture wars.

Whilst I'm glad the BBC did a "fact check" on the DNC speech, just a moments comparison to the RNC speech shows the disparity in the number of facts checked, the level of detail in each fact check and the claims that were chosen for a fact check.

Furthermore, Trump, his supporters and the right-wing media have been doing their best to try to demonize Biden. Do you think they're going to stop doing that if Biden wins?
Oh yes, America will become a Maoist communist state under Joe Biden for sure, subservient to China and all law and order will disappear. And yet if President Trump wins America will become a white nationalist fascist failed state where minorities and homosexuals will be hunted down and forced into interment camps What a choice you have!!!!

No, they didn't.

Tom
Ha haa. Sorry. My world history is awful, I admit. I had actually looked that up before posting it, too, so apparently the articles that I read were wrong. Here is the link and a quote from one of them:

"So, who won the 1932 national parliamentary elections in Germany?

Basically, Hitler didn't win those [elections] outright. In the German system nobody won outright. It was always going to be a coalition. But what he did do was, he got a huge share of the vote, more than any other parties by a million miles. It was a landslide victory in that sense.

No party had done anywhere near as well as the Nazis did in the summer of 1932. So to that extent, they were the obvious party of government, because they were the party that had done massively better than anybody else."

https://www.dw.com/en/fact-or-fictio...932/a-18680673

So after reading that and a few other articles, that's why I had phrased it the way I did. It's hard to know what to believe on the Internet sometimes.

Was America a "Maoist communist state" under Obama? Why do you think it would be under Biden? What exactly has Biden said or done to make you think that would happen?

The purpose of fact checks is generally to highlight lies or to clarify contentious issues. You won't often see fact checkers confirming statements of well-known truths. So it's not surprising that far more of Trump's claims were checked than of Biden's, as Trump is a habitual liar and Biden simply isn't, at least not in public.

Furthermore, Trump's speech was stultifyingly long (I can't remember how long Biden spoke for, but I think his was one of the shortest nomination acceptance speeches in recent history while Trump's was the longest on record, or something close to it), so it's also no surprise that there were more spurious claims to be investigated.

If you don't like the BBC's reporting, I'm not sure what would work for you. But I'm pretty sure that Breitbart, OAN, FOX, Daily Caller et al. aren't on anybody's "impartial" list.

Sorry if I didn't pick up on your sarcasm. I've seen quite a few Trump-supporters trying to accuse Democrats of being "Communists," so I suppose that's why I didn't pick up on it.

I think it's pretty clear that both sides are desperate to win. I just hope that a year from now, US politics is more mature than what it's been.

The Post-Convention bounce. Will be interesting to see if Trump and Pence also see a bounce after the RNC this week.

The Dems have their work cut out for them. I believe they can succeed, but they have to stay awake. Also, it‘s not Just the presidential race. Getting rid of Mitch in the senate is important.
No Trump bounce

Quote:
President Trump’s favorability stayed flat after the Republican National Convention as a majority of the country continues to view his handling of the COVID-19 crisis negatively, a poll released Sunday found.

The ABC News/Ipsos poll determined that 31 percent of respondents had a favorable view of Trump after the GOP convention, representing no significant change from his 32 percent favorability a week prior after the Democratic National Convention.
Source

The absence of an updated Republican party platform for the 2020 election and the decision to preserve the 2016 platform keeps in place toned down language related to Ukraine, also underlines hw little they achieved of their 2016 platform.

Some highlights from 2016 platform;
"The President and the Democratic party have abandoned their promise of being accountable to the American people.
They have nearly doubled the size of the national debt." - Trump managed the same increase in just one term!

"The first step is through an annual audit of the Federal Reserve’s activities." - not yet happened and ulikely to.

"We must impose firm caps on future Federal debt, accelerate the repayment of the trillions we now owe in order to reaffirm our principles of responsible and limited government, and remove the burdens we are placing on future generations." - just LOL!

"We support free-market approaches to free speech unregulated by government." Which is why they keep trying to reguate social media.

and lots more.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

I think there are a lot of American Christians who don't understand that having Pence as VP does not make Trump more religious. It's like baking American apple pies in China and then stamping them with "Sold in America." It's says America so it must be patriotic.

They really don't, just do a search for "white nationalist Trump" or "Fascist Trump" into Twitter and you'll see both sides are as a bad as each other. If you can't see that then you're part of the problem.

Just watch this video of Democrat Representative Deberry, he gets it. Could I vote and were his name on the ballot paper then I would certainly be putting a cross next to his name!

Interesting statistic

Joe Biden is attracting more crossover endorsements from prominent members of the opposing party than any other presidential candidate from either side in decades.

Trump seems to be pinning his reelection hopes on "law and order" which means he has to keep provoking the rioters; if the riots were to fade away then he has no platform anymore.

HI Olygirl, please watch the video I've linked below. I'm not normally a fan of these types of clips but this one does give an idea of how both sides have upped the rhetoric and aggression and really are as bad as each other.

Indeed, a lot of short clips joined together and used entirely out of their original context.
The first line from Pelosi: this was said in context to Trump's separation of children from their parents at the border. Talking of which, another example.

I despise Pelosi but can you blame her? Pitting a walking corpse vs a baffoon?

Crayola people vs marionettes

These are the two 'choices' left for voters
Maybe a debate would be unwise for both of them.

Trump should certainly stop these one on one TV interviews, he just comes over as wierd.

Look at this video of his yesterday interview with Laura Ingraham.

Or if you can't be bothered to watch the video then read this short report of the interview.

One Trump quote "I don’t even like to mention Biden, because he’s not controlling anything. They control him"....... “People that you haven’t heard of. They’re people that are on the streets. They’re people that are controlling the streets.””
