Actually comes across as rather patronising. | | | | | As opposed to the 90 odd other terms where only a man could be in the running?
America already showed the kind of person it would put above a competent woman for the top job, and those same people now seem to be offended that the number two role might go to a woman too.
What sad little men they are.

In 2016 Trump was new, had some good ideas, and excited a lot of people.
In 2020 he is basically rerunning his 2016 campaign which is not enough and not new. To my knowledge, he has yet to state his plans for his next term and is relying on attacking Biden plus pointing to his record on the economy which unfortunately for him has collapsed.
His "law and order" campaign including sending in the military to bully his own citizens has not yet improved his position. For example, his claims he saved Portland from destruction are somewhat countered by social media which is full of information and photos from actual Portland citizens who claim "the troubles" are confined to a tiny part of the city which most people never visit anyway.
As the COVID-19 spreads ever wider in the US there are more and more people who have friends or relatives who are hospitalised or die and naturally blame their government.
Biden has a published plan for his term and is best off playing it cool and avoiding controvery.

@chuff, you're obviously not very good at this logic thingamajing. Feel free to try again, sooner or later even you may get it. | Quote: | | | | | The sad thing is, I can think of many people who would be worse than Biden. And I’m sure that in the election cycles to come , many of them will run.
Why is it that these days you have to be somebody’s family or somebody’s ex VP to be allowed to run. They’re already dreaming of Michelle Obama and Chelsea Clinton. And I’m convinced the GOP is not totally done with the Bush family either. Wien will they wake up to the fact that all this nepotism is hurting them? | | | | | Some already ran.
Nepotism in politics is anything but new, see the Kennedy's (and probably many others before them). Nor is it limited to politics, extortionate education tuition and fees have a similar effect (though they're of course much less specific). To people who've held a position for decades nepotism may even be a well-earned right, just like the founder of a company will want family members to step in his footsteps and well-off parents will usually like it when their children join their industry. Yet another reason to limit the number of times you can be elected and the maximum age to run.

I'm not totally convinced that Biden isn't sliding into dementia.
It will be interesting to see him in a debate - but luckily for him, those will mostly be held as online-events....
Trump calls him "Sleepy Joe" - and with all the nicknames he gave to people, there was always a grain of truth to it.
Though, ISTR that he was quite alert during the debate with Bernie.
Of course, for Trump, running on the "against the establishment" card is a bit difficult when you're part of it. But that was kind-of the case in 2016 already.
But the race is far from over.

Actually comes across as rather patronising. | | | | | Which of Biden's VP candidates would you class as "token".
Here is a list of them, of course, he might surprise us and choose a token from outside this list if you want an easy way to avoid answering.

Warren would have been outstanding choice, not because of her sex, but because of her qualifications.

He's not exactly picking his 22 year old personal trainer who he happens to fancy, but from an extremely qualified field of candidates.
Look up the Rooney rule, you'll hopefully understand better then.

Tim Kaine (failed with Hillary)
Joe Kennedy (nepotastic)
Bernie (no interest i guess, direct rival with very different politics)
Rohit Khanna (America might be ready for a black christian president, but probably not a Hindu VP)
...then it is probably pure expedience for Biden to pick some qualified women for the role - the men are not up to muster this time round. I'm sorry it troubles you so much that the women in the running are the best candidates for the job.

Fair enough, I agree - Warren would be the best candidate around...but his statement automatically makes it a token choice rather than one made on merit alone & it doesn't set right with me.
Now due to the race struggles going on in America, he is expected to choose a female minority. Is a female minority the best person for the job? I guess we don't get to decide and it is disappointing. Biden is obviously not in top form health wise, and the likelihood of a VP having to take over is high. We need a VP who can actually be POTUS and help clean up the mess the GOP has made for years.

I also think she would hurt Bidens chances at the polls as some see her as too radical.
