Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden leads President Trump by 12 points nationally among likely U.S. voters, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.

Joe Biden also leads President Trump in all six of the core battleground states, up 1% from the last poll, that will play an outsized role in determining who wins the White House in November, according to a new CNBC poll.

A new NBC News-Marist poll shows Joe Biden leads President Trump by 9 points among likely voters in Pennsylvania, a key swing state where the former vice president was born.

Probably Trump's frenzied attacks on almost everybody are not helping him.

Today Trump is promoting another illegal idea

Are you considered a political operative if you are not actively operating as one? I understand that you can't be waving flags and shouting support for a candidate within a certain distance of the station, but I'm sure there are political supporters on both sides working in the stations themselves.

Number of feet varies by state. The common rule is that poll watchers, i.e. those inside the polls, are not allowed to be wearing any political gear or promoting any particular candidate. They're not allowed to interact with voters except to challenge.

You can belong to a particular party and support a particular candidate and still be a poll worker. However as above, you can't wear party/candidate gear and you can't promote it within the polling place. The idea is you're there to ensure a free and fair and unbiased process, because there are poll workers from both major political parties who are involved in everything going on.

Median is every poll watcher has two feet

Seriously now there is a stunning new book by Bob Woodward (to be released next week) and it is claimed Trump is on tape
Quote:
President Donald Trump admitted he knew weeks before the first confirmed US coronavirus death that the virus was dangerous, airborne, highly contagious and "more deadly than even your strenuous flu," and that he repeatedly played it down publicly, according to legendary journalist Bob Woodward in his new book "Rage."

"This is deadly stuff," Trump told Woodward on February 7.

In a series of interviews with Woodward, Trump revealed that he had a surprising level of detail about the threat of the virus earlier than previously known.
"Pretty amazing," Trump told Woodward, adding that the coronavirus was maybe five times "more deadly" than the flu.

I agree, and I also think Trump didn't fully grasp the magnitude of what the world was facing. It was a disease "over there" and he blocked Chinese from entering the U.S., so for him it was job done.

Also what does "5x more deadly than the flu" even mean to him or any random person? He probably doesn't know anyone who died from the flu. I don't know anyone who has died from the flu either.

I suppose it’s a way of saying that the man is devoid of empathy - he has access to experts and did not listen to them. Lots of people die of pneumonia - sure, maybe he knows no one who has - but again, there is that lack of empathy, inability to think outside his own personal box and failure to seek counsel.

I think your assessment is correct....but thinking through it, it seems all the more inexcusable that the president of the US should demonstrate such incompetence.

Well, at least he has heard of the 1918 Flu Pandemic, which they call the 1917 Flu, which ended World War II. So there's that.

As mentioned in another thread, Woodward has now released his Trump tapes.

Trump knew how potentially serious COVID-19 is so why did he not pump up production of PPE?

He could also have hauled Obama's manual out of a cupboard and ordered people to implement the recommended actions on how to handle a Pandemic.

You can read the manual here.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Yeah, the WHO had already issued warnings about the virus and documents regarding the nature of the virus (what was known about it at the time) to its member states, including the US, at the time Trump said that the virus is "no big deal" and would just "go away like a miracle." He chose to downplay the virus as a threat and ignore the WHO's warnings. Meanwhile, much of the rest of the world was paying attention (I know I certainly was) and acknowledging the virus as a potential threat.

But Trump likes to pretend that he has everything under control even when he clearly doesn't. And I remember seeing a lot of Trump-supporters back then making fun of people for expressing concern about the virus. As far as I know, Trump has never once offered any kind of apology for what he said or simply acknowledge that he was wrong. Instead, he has tried to blame everyone and anyone else for the situation in the US. But I think that that's one of the things that makes someone a decent person -- the ability to admit when they're wrong. They don't try to project the illusion of being infallible.

True. I guess what I meant with that is that last February and March, many (most?) of his supporters were saying that people were overreacting about being worried about the virus ever becoming a problem in the US. Well, the US is now the hardest-hit country in the world and yet still (like you said), so many of his supporters are failing to acknowledge that because that would require admitting to themselves that their cult leader -- and they themselves -- were wrong.

"The blind leading the blind."

FTFY. Also he'd struggle to legally forbid citizens from entering their own country.

Scientists have said that New York was hit hard because of returning citizens & residents from Europe. The coronavirus mutation there more closely matched that of Italy than that of China.

That's from August. Have you seen the latest news today? I posted links in another thread. It seems unlikely the administration would move to block citizens when they're rolling back testing and allowing entries from other countries:
