Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

I mentioned to a group of Americans on an internet forum that most Swiss believe Trump will win, even though they'd rather see Biden become President. I was practically lynched and of course, the minaret referendum was thrown in my face, as proof that Switzerland is inadequate in governing their own country.

I've never seen such heightened sensitivity and aggression before. I personally think many Americans are scared Trump will win again and therefore refuse to see this as a possbility. I can't blame them.

I am also scared to death that Trump will win, but every time I open this thread and see the poll, I realize that a big part of me is expecting him to win. Considering how the last election went down -- and that the US is not a direct democracy anyways -- it's difficult for me to be optimistic. Not to mention the fact that he's already made it pretty clear that he refuses to lose and will do whatever it takes not to. The rational part of my brain tells me to hope for the best but to expect the worst.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

That was one horrific presidential debate... Trump just showed how much of an ignorant bully he is, talking over Biden at every opportunity, making some awful personal attacks on Bidens family, and largely ignoring the moderator Chris Wallace. He is just a fundamentally bad and rotten person.

Admired and considered a model by his fanatics, who adopted and imitate his behaviour.

I really, really hope he'll lose because Trumpism is gaining too much terrain among politicians, media, social media etc.
One cannot but hope we'll come back to common sense and rationality.
I don't know how trumpoids will survive his defeat. It will be fun to watch these insecure characters.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

This was not a debate, this was a sad reflection of the fact that the most powerful country in the world, with 350m people picked two old imbeciles to have a food fight for the most important job in the world. Reminds me of the safety procedure in the airplane - we should all now "brace, brace". Whoever wins, will be bad. Sad reality.

If he wins the election, we can only hope that some form of health-related issue forces him to step down.

If he wins, this could mean the end of American influence.

Yup, they will gain permanent increases in power, influence and also confidence as a result of his presidency. Another Trump term will lead to greater world instability as the USA is increasingly divided and weakened.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Trump appearded to be a man who you would think could run a company.

Biden appeared to be a man who would struggle to command a sandwich committee at a village fete.

His main appeal seems to be he isn't Trump.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

I haven't had a chance to watch last night's debate in full yet -- only snippets so far.

But just... Wow. When asked to condemn white nationalists (white supremacy), rather than condemning them, Trump actually encouraged them by saying "Proud Boys. Stand back and stand by."

What kind of person supports a president who encourages white nationalism? He claims to want peace and yet simultaneously is encouraging racist white people to "stand by" with their loaded weapons to fight against people who are against racism.

Trump doesn't want peace. He wants civil war. At least Biden is man enough to openly admit that violent protests are wrong. But according to Trump, violence is okay as long as it's white supremacists committing the violence?

He also claims to have a better healthcare plan. It's been almost four years since he's taken office. Where is it? He claims it's sooo much better than Obamacare but has repeatedly refused to produce anything. We'd be fools to expect the next four years to be any better than the last four have been.

Trump also claimed that he has paid "millions" in taxes in 2016. If that's true, then why has he taken such desperate measures to NOT reveal his tax returns? Trump has already been caught in a very dangerous lie by telling Americans that the coronavirus is "no big deal," despite admittedly knowing otherwise. We would be complete fools to believe anything that man says at this point.

I disagree. And you should look up the term "corporate psychopathy" or "industrial psychopathy" because it defines Trump to-a-tee. Not to mention the fact that Trump has failed to successfully run most of his companies. He is deeply in debt; and the fact is, he has built whatever "empire" he has by taking out huge loans, refusing to pay taxes and then defaulting on those loans and claiming bankruptcy so that he doesn't have to pay them back. He has made his so-called "fortune" by ripping off banks as well as all of the contractors, etc. who have worked for him and then he refused to pay.

What I see in Biden is someone who is a real, genuine human being, who is rational and who actually cares about people and who has enough experience in the political world to see the bullshit for the bullshit that it is. Unlike Trump, Biden has NOT made the bid for presidency about his ego. And quite frankly, I think any sane, intelligent human being would want Trump out of office. The guy lies and thrives on trying to divide the nation, encouraging Americans to hate one another -- even going so far as to encourage white supremacists on live, national television.

If you think that's the kind of person that should be leading America, then you might want to examine your own moral compass.

One of my favorite quotes I've read through all of this is the following:

"Trump supporters are like flies. Even if the bee could explain to the fly that pollen is better than shit, the fly would not understand."

Did anyone read the 20 Minuten review of the debate? It seems the ďUS expertĒ concluded Trump had won 5-4. Those kind of statements scare me as much as a potential reelection of Trump does.
