I understand why they want to throw the proverbial kitchen sink at him, but I'm a bit concerned. If he recovers, how will anyone know what (if any) treatments actually helped? If he does not recover, how will anyone know whether a particular treatment choice was useless or harmful? How will anyone know whether it was a combination that helped or harmed?

I know he's been enthusiastic about trial medicines before but it seems a bit reckless to me to go full whack like this with so many different, unproven medicines.

Edit - And despite all they're doing and how it seems to imply his case is serious, they're talking about discharge from hospital as early as tomorrow.
One thing's for sure, if Trump does recover, he has completely forfeited the opportunity to boast that he was right all along—COVID-19 is just another flu. Alternatively, to claim that he's such a tough guy, he beat the China plague so easily in just a couple of days.

Having consumed a lot of therapies not available to most of the 7 million+ Americans who.have been infected with the coronavirus so far, and at extravagantly high doses at that, I can't see how Trump could benefit politically from this infection. He will, of course, lie and exaggerate YUUUUUUGELY, but if he is proven to have lied about the timeline of his case, he could be in for an extremely hostile response from voters.

Like the selfish bar-steward that he is, he’s probably more worried about staying alive.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

I watched smoe of the South Carolina Seat nomination debate today... Jaime Harrison vs Lindsey Graham. Harrison absolutely destroyed him and I have to say, he seems like a really decent, intelligent and empathetic guy.

Lindsey now cuts a truly pathetic figure... it's clear he is just going through the motions and peddling the lines he is told to peddle. He was rushing through his lines, jittery as hell, couldn't stop fidgeting, and clearly doesn't believe a word he is saying. He is a shadow of a man and I do pity him a little for whatever hold Trump has over him that caused him to sell his soul and every shred of dignity he has.

I put this in the other thread, but If they’re giving Trump steroids, I wonder if they’ll need to invoke the 25th amendment and have Pence step in. Steroids make some people sort of paranoid-manic.

The worst punishment for Mr. Trump will be when the Republicans lose the Presidency and the Senate while failing to make any gains in the House on 3 November.

He is going to go down in History ...

Wow. Yeah, it says that he's on Dexamethasone, which is a type of corticosteroid medication. And corticosteroids often dramatically increase someone's cortisol levels (stress hormone), which makes them very irrational / irate. There is a slang term in the US called "roid rage" that parents use to refer to the irrational rage their kids develop after being put on corticosteroid inhalers for asthma.

And as someone else already referenced, Trump already has issues with being irrational... so you add to that, and yikes. Someone really needs to take his nuclear button away. (And his Twitter!)

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

It is all smoke and mirrors
Quote:
The latest intervention from Donald Trump’s medical team has been to put the president on dexamethasone, a steroid that is proven, thanks to the UK’s Recovery trial, to benefit Covid-19 patients who are having breathing difficulties.

Peter Openshaw, a professor of experimental medicine at Imperial College London, and a member of the UK government’s New and Emerging Respiratory Virus Threats Advisory Group, said: “It would be unusual to be starting steroids with a relatively short duration of illness. It’s normally reserved for people who have had symptoms for a week or more and who are going into respiratory failure.”

The update has prompted concerns among some doctors about the president’s condition. Nicholas Christakis, a physician and sociologist at Yale University, said “Either he is sicker than they have let on and clearly warrants dexamethasone, or he’s not so sick, and therefore putting him on dexamethasone is irresponsible.”

White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany has tested positive for Covid-19, she tweeted in a statement Monday morning.

Two of McEnany's deputies, Chad Gilmartin and Karoline Leavitt, have also tested positive for coronavirus plüs three White House reporters.

McEnany's diagnosis is a stark reminder that the administration has flouted science and best practices before and even after the President tested positive.
She continued to publicly shirk mask usage in the days since President Donald Trump and other staffers and outside advisers tested positive for the virus.
Several reporters slammed White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany with one saying she "recklessly endangered lives" by not wearing a mask during briefings.

CBS News White House Correspondent Ben Tracy, said he "felt safer reporting in North Korea" than he currently does at the White House.

There is a whole group around Trump who seem to believe they can ignore their own administration's public health advice; even with all the recent cases they still do not wear masks or respect social distancing. They are all nuts!

According to the Taiwan news the White House now has more coronavirus cases than Taiwan, New Zealand, and Vietnam combined.

Seems a bit premature?
Quote:
The White House Gift Shop started selling a $100 “Trump Defeats COVID” commemorative coin on Monday before the president returned to the White House from the hospital.
He did seem very fit on his return to the White House which is surprising. It is only four days since his diagnosis and usually serious cases like his is claimed to be usually get worse days five to ten.

Meanwhile, the Supreme Court on Monday reinstated a restriction in South Carolina requiring that absentee voters provide a witness signature along with their ballot.

The ruling was a win for Republicans but the order does not apply to votes that were already cast or are received within the next two days.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Both FiveThirtyEight and Real Clear Politics national poll of polls shows Biden 9 points ahead of Trump, far ahead of Hillary at the same timeline point.

More worrying Biden is about the same as Hillary in the "swing states".
