More worrying Biden is about the same as Hillary in the "swing states". | | | | | As much as all this is positive, it's the electoral vote that counts.

| | Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got? | Quote: | | | | | Small correction....South Carolina. Hope Harrison wins. | | | | | Some positive news
The Cook Political Report on Wednesday shifted the South Carolina Senate race from “lean Republican” in favor of incumbent Sen. Lindsey Graham (R) to a “toss up,” giving Democratic challenger Jaime Harrison a boost weeks before the election.
The nonpartisan election handicapper said it appeared that Graham would “cruise to re-election” earlier this year but on Wednesday described Harrison as “Democrats’ best recruit and a fundraising behemoth.”
In four years, Sen. Lindsey Graham has gone from Donald Trump's cutting critic to his dogged defender, a bipartisan dealmaker who used to be respected by Senate Democrats to a staunch conservative reviled by liberals across the country.
Good word "reviled.

Apart from the fact that he cannot spell forest and anyway, they are mostly federal forests, how is voting Trump in again as President going to fix the problems he already failed to fix? | | | | | He will say anything if he thinks it might help him win. Yesterday, he was saying that he refuses to discuss stimulus checks with the House until after the election; and then once he realized that that was a mistake, today he tried to flip it by saying that Pelosi needs to approve his demands. He's just desperately trying to change and distort every situation into one that he thinks will help him win. I expect his behavior to become increasingly irrational and inconsistent over the next few weeks, parallel with his increasing desperation.
It will be interesting to find out tomorrow morning how the VP debate goes. At least Pence usually comes off as being much more mature and mild-mannered than Trump, so hopefully it won't be anything like the ridiculous shitshow that the last debate was.
Edit: Sorry, I posted this and then noticed your post, Marton, also mentioning his contradictions. Didn't mean for it to seem like I was just repeating what you had said. | This user would like to thank Pancakes for this useful post:

This is really an extraordinary result. Rasmussen is a right-leaning poll that is Trump's favourite and usually shows him far ahead of other pollsters.
In the last few weeks, Rasmussen shows Trump’s job approval rating has fallen from 53 per cent (far above the results from other polls) to 44 per cent.
Edit: This date in 2016 Rasmussen had Hillary 7 points ahead of Trump.

Apparently, Biden's campaign is now asking for Trump to prove that he is no longer contagious before attending the next Presidential debate, scheduled for October 15th. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/bide...e_hero_related
I know I joked the other day that they might have to wheel Trump out in a bubble cage for the debate, but it looks like that actually could happen. At least that might make it easier to mute him. | This user would like to thank Pancakes for this useful post:

I did not watch any of the debates nor will I be watching them. Don't care enough. That said I think Trump will lose this election. If he had used common sense he could have actually won it.
Regarding Harris, I don't like her at all. I would have voted for Tulsi Gabbard though. Seems like a much nicer person.

There was nothing to be proud about with regards to his his performance, unless you like the fact he lied throughout his debate. Overall, the media have also agreed that Kamala dominated him in every meaningful respect.
However, I am sure that those of a more morally dubious and delusional character did appreciate his performance for not being the absolute car crash that the presidents was. He was low content and condescending. Harris held her ground and did her best to reclaim her time.

All he can do is plough through his pre-prescribed lines by rote, he cannot react dynamically in real-time when challenged on his obvious lies and failings of the administration because there is simply no defence against them... and he knows it. All he had to do to get through it with the least amount of damage was to continue to repeat the same lies and not admit any fault.

The ostrich approach, ignore the virus and hope it goes away. | Quote: | | | | A White House security official is reportedly “gravely ill” after contracting COVID-19 in September, Bloomberg reports.
The publication identified the official as Crede Bailey, who heads the White House’s security office. He has reportedly been receiving hospital care since September.

Trump really does not care how many of his employees he is putting at risk.

Trump really does not care how many of his employees he is putting at risk. | | | | | Of course not, because it's just another example of how lacking in sanity and rationality he is. When we look back on all this in a decade we are going to be scratching our heads wondering wtf happened in this most bizarre period of American presidential history and that it will provide fuel for many political dissertations and studies. Simply digesting and making sense of all of the things that happened in his term(s) will take a lot of time.
Pretty sure there will be some blockbuster movies made about it for some time too.

Both sides will argue their candidate won, Pence v Harris.
For me, it was important that Harris made no big failures or gaffes and at that she was successful. Sadly Pence also made no gaffes.
I doubt that debate will sway any voters to change their vote, certainly, the tide of women voters turning against Trump should be more than satisfied with Harris's performance.
I give the debate prize to the fly; believed to be a Chinese robot indoctrinating Pence
Edit: according to a CNN Instant Poll of registered voters who watched. About 6 in 10 (59%) said Harris won, while 38% said Vice President Mike Pence had the better night.

Maybe it's just time for the US to change and move away from the presidential system, as it doesn't really seem to be working (anymore).
If you look at other countries with a presidential system, there don't seem to be many among them with a strong and healthy democracy. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_o...ential_systems |
