Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Former Republican Ohio Gov. John Kasich will speak at the upcoming Democratic National Convention in support of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden.

Wow! That is a major plus for Joe especially as the latest polls show him leading in Ohio.

That's astonishing. Maybe even unpresidented...

You don't see why age or race are relevant... really? In a political landscape and especially long line of presidential candidates overwhelmingly dominated by older white men within an otherwise rich and diverse multicutural country like the USA?
I don't see why their age or race is a problem. They're all Americans serving the American people (supposedly).

What changes when they're replaced by someone who is younger or has a different skin colour?

Im willing to bet trump wins OH, in all likelihood quite easily. The dems are reliant pretty much entirely on sweeping 2 out of (100 ish?) counties - Cuyahoga (Cleveland) and Franklin (Columbus). They can't be more much more than 15% of the population of the state in combination.

If he doesn't win OH, its going to be a very very comfortable democratic victory nationwide. 10+ points

Bringing in more diversity into the political realm allows other groups to feel better represented in contrast to the present group of "elite" politicians. In my opinion, Trump and McConnell represent the old white men's elite club where dirty politics takes priority over what's best for a diverse nation.

The biggest division IMHO of all isn't gender, race or age, its social class. Race is second. Age and Gender are last (both are still significant).

Does either party have many representatives from a normal background?

We've got a super wealthy bloke with a hair transplant and a combover (or something that resembles that?) running against a solidly middle class guy with a hair transplant and a combover for president. Can you trust a man who can't admit he is bald?

In the meantime I am convinced, that who is who in American politics really doesn´t matter, it´s all just a show for the plebs.
Both candidates will be bought by money from the same sources and a two party system is a farce by any measure just as long as the incumbent plays his or her role all is good.

You shouldn't equate "dirty politics" with someone's gender or race. Its openly racist and sexist. There's been plenty of dirty politics by left and right and centre and by people of all races and ages throughout the years (I'd actually say the centre have possible been the worst of all).

Obama won Ohio in both 2008 and 2012 so 2020 is not such a stretch for Biden.

Sorry but I'm going to call it like it is. I'm not at all saying all old white men are devious, but Trump and McConnell definitely are.

I get your disapproval...but tell me how you're gonna test the authenticity. And whether it has anything to do with politics.

All that in the nation of no health insurance but plastic surgery booming.

Who cares...Combovers, botox, fillers, veneers, implants. Some people don't have that and still look weird and entertaining. EU politics.

Is this the same Obama who totally crushed Biden in the primaries in 2008?

Biden was the weaker candidate then. If he'd been able to do better than Obama he would have become president in his place.

The better question here should be, why does US politics insist on bringing the same people (and their friends and family) to the forefront every election cycle, ad nausea, hoping against hope that even though they failed dismally in the past, they might somehow suddenly turn into something better this time round. Why doesn't anybody tell these people to step aside for somebody new?

Happens in the EU too, Berlusconi for example.

That said, in Europe we do tend to like our scarecrows. Boris Johnson, Guy Verhofstad,

The politicians are there to represent the American people and their age or race shouldn't restrict them from being able to do so.

Money. It takes truckloads to run for and win office, particularly at the federal level. Clinton v. Trump wasn't the first election to be a choice of the "lesser of two evils".

This. And since when has gender/race/age spoken more than the actual ideas.

You're assuming they want to represent the American people. I say many of them just want the power.

....and it's Kamala Harris.

If he gets elected, I bet he doesn't even make it to 2022.

That office is dragging down everybody. Look at the before/after pics of W and Obama. Incredibly, the only POTUS seemingly unaffected is Trump.
Probably because he doesn't give a s-h-1-t.

I can’t help but that choice swings things into President Trumps favour a little. The threat of applying the 25th Amendment to Joe Biden could be too big to stomach for many voters! Also, not much to offer the independents and “anyone but Trump” Republicans.

Nothing can help Trump; he has dug himself too deep.

Probably Trump will waste a lot of time attacking Harris forgetting Biden is his opponent and the one he needs to beat.
