Here's hoping that Biden wins and we have an R senate. No Trump, no socialism. Everyone wins.
Can you name one major initiative that is supported by a majority of Democrats and could be considered as "socialistics" or a part of building a socialist state? Perhaps named that way by someone else than Fox News?

I can understand people opposing certain ideas and systems, such as universal health care or stronger restrictions on greenhouse emissions, but I never understood why we need to rename concepts and abuse definitions to express certain opinions.

Basically, it is about voting for the least bad, not the best.

In the event of a Biden win then hopefully it will not turn out to have been a case of "better the devil you know".

Interesting for me is that there have been over 70 million votes already cast, around half the number who voted in 2016, 138,847,000 (including all candidates).

Many people say this indicates there will be a larger than usual voter turnout (55.5% last time). If so then who are these extra voters?
People, who like what Trump has done so much that they vote this time but not in 2016?
Or people who hate Trump so much .........?

I have not seen any analysis of who those extra voters might be.

More than 16 million voters who did not cast a ballot in 2016 have already voted this year, a sign that record-high enthusiasm in November’s elections will lead to an unprecedented turnout across the country.

There are indications that the surge is being fueled by younger voters who have been targets of turnout operations funded by Democratic groups, and by minorities who are motivated to vote like never before, data experts keeping tabs on the early numbers say.

If that analysis is correct then it does not look so good for Donny?

That is almost a 12% increase over the last election.

Lol Marton . Too funny! I also read that voter numbers have increased substantially and I wonder why as well. Maybe younger voters? I guess we will find out post election...

I think young voters and black voters are both increasing. Lots of people were sure Hillary was going to win or apathetic and sat out 2016.

FAKE NEWS!!!

Obviously the yuuuge increase is due to mail-in ballot fraud. Democrats have been mailing 24 votes per person while Republicans have had their ballots dumped in the river.

Very good article about the election from The Spectator which raised some salient points regarding media and their focus as well as Biden and Trump's focus.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

All three major US stock indices crashed down today by over 3%, the Dow was down over 800 today and is down over 2,200 points in a couple of weeks.

Wall Street is finally waking up to the facts that COVID-19 is not going away and a relief deal by Congress is also slipping away.

Biden continues to perform well in the polls, unlike Hillary who was seeing her lead evaporating at this date in 2016. Biden, never a prolific fundraiser, is likely to be the first-ever presidential candidate to raise $1 billion for his campaign account.
Estimates are of a $14Billion spend on the election campaigns; it is not hard to think of better uses for the money. Ironic at a time when charities complain of a lack of funding due to the virus.

If many, many people vote early via absentee, early in person or mail in ballot, that leaves fewer people to present themselves to the polls on Election Day.

I’m not sure that’s a reasonable assumption.

The Supreme Court left the status quo intact in a pair of swing-state election cases on Wednesday, turning aside Republicans who aimed to block a ballot-receipt extension in North Carolina and declining to expedite a Republican challenge to the Pennsylvania deadline,
Probably too early to claim the conservative majority in the SC will not reverse this decision.

Joe Biden cares more about dangerous black criminals than he does hardworking police officers! Pretty much sums up the Democratic party.

And also thinking that speculation that early voting consists of people that abstained previously and new voters. Obviously some of them are, but many are those that want to avoid polling day lines.

That's a broad brush. I read the man wasn't a "dangerous black criminal" but a man with bipolar disorder. He certainly was acting very dangerously, holding a knife menacingly towards 2 policemen. The outcome (shooting) is quite unsurprising, especially as he seems very close to the officers (around 2m, judging by the videos online). From there to "all Democracts care more about black criminals than policemen"...hard to take you seriously when you say things like that.

Allowing ‘hardworking police officers’, who’s lives were not in danger, to shoot a bipolar man 7 times (each) pretty much sums up the Republic party.

Wallace in 2013 pled guilty to assault and resisting arrest after hitting a police officer, according to TV station 6ABC.

Four years later he pled guilty to robbery, assault, and possessing an instrument of crime after kicking down the door of a woman and putting a gun to her head, the station reported
.

Sounds like a dangerous criminal to me. As usual

Assault and resisting arrest could be related to his psychiatric condition. Posession of a gun...in the US...dunnot. But robbery is certainly criminal. I didn't know that, I had read only the latest news, which didn't mention that at all. Looks like the man needed to be properly institutionalized, he was obviously a danger to himself and others.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

You can't use someone's mental illness as a reason to excuse their violent behavior and to not allow police to defend themselves against it. Many people who commit violent crime and/or who threaten people with weapons have some form of mental illness.

If the guy had been white, would people even be having this conversation? How about if he had been threatening a school or a bus full of kids? Or how about shooting up a concert full of people?

"Adults with untreated severe mental illness account for one in every four fatal police shootings, according to experts. Wallace fits the pattern. He was also in and out of court throughout his young adulthood, with judges regularly ordering he receive mental health treatment as he faced charges of trespassing, resisting arrest, robbery and simple assault."
https://www.inquirer.com/news/walter...-20201027.html

The guy wasn't shot because he was black. He was shot because he was having a psychotic episode and was threatening the police with a knife. And it was his own mother who had called the police due to him threatening her with a knife. But now his family is trying to play the victim and paint him out as being one because that's the trend right now, and I guess that's a lot easier to do than to confront the reality that he died because of the consequences of his own behavior and his own psychosis.

Without knowing the details I am suspicious of any US Criminal Conviction in which the accused has pleaded guilty.
