Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Wouldn't at all surprised if we end up with this.

"I mentioned at the outset there is - conceivably - a fourth scenario. And don't ask me to go into the mechanics or the consequences, but… because of the way Nebraska splits its electoral college votes, it is conceivable that in the race for 270 electoral college votes - the magic number that secures you the presidency, you end up with Biden on 269 and Trump on 269.

And after billions of dollars spent, you end up in total gridlocked, legal quagmire, America divided hell.

It's never happened before, and I say it is unlikely.

But impossible?

Come off it, this is 2020."

https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-54782625

The way this year's been going it should be the most likely outcome.

Happily, meloncollies' Swiss friends are not typical and 22y's assumption that the average Swiss citizen supports Trump is wrong. Recent poll here showing that only Erdogan is less popular amongst the Swiss. 63% picked Biden as their preferred candidate compared to 13% for Trump. 59% have a "very negative" opinion of Trump, a further 16% merely "negative".

I've seen other polls in the past with similar results.

On a personal level, almost all my own Swiss friends are against Trump.

https://www.blick.ch/news/schweiz/ex...d16150779.html
Yep, haven't met any Swiss Trump supporter in real life. On the other hand, in my home country many people are amused and even think along the line of "well, he's just like every other politician, only more theatrical". Wha....? lol. Might be the fact that we're used with such low standards and we heard all the brain farts from various morons that nothing impresses us anymore. I wonder what people think of Erdogan, I have no idea. Now I guess it all depends on how closely one follows what's happening in the world.

Then it is decided by a vote in the House of Representatives. Biden will win.

Former Vice President Joe Biden took all five of the votes cast for president in Dixville Notch, a tiny New Hampshire township along the US-Canada border that is among the first places in the country to make its presidential preference known.

The ballots were cast in the minutes after midnight, becoming some of the first cast and counted on Election Day.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Interesting quote from Biden on the last day. (Paraphrased)*

“The president doesn’t get to choose who gets to vote, its the voters that choose who gets to be president.”

*Heard on a BBC video clip, it may not be exactly what he said, but close.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Millsfield, NH voted Trump 16 - Biden 5

Very similar to 2016 when it was Trump 16 - Clinton 4 - Sanders (write in) 1

Pray for what, and hope for what?

I only pray that it will be over this time tomorrow so that we can get back to more important things, and I hope that it will be decided before January 21.

Same here. Brexit trade negotiations. US elections. Covid 2nd wave.

I'm so over all of them.

Let's get them over and done with and let's move on.

Hmmm... So let's deflect from Biden here as it suits you to do so!

"Fat Donny" has his own issues but so does Biden - and, in my view, there is no way he had "no knowledge" of Hunter and his brother's business affairs as he claims - which makes him just as scum worthy as "Donny". Biden is more likable/genial but just as sleazy. He just puts on a pleasant persona and uses a different approach but I believe he used his position as VP to benefit his family. And to me, that is reprehensible on all levels.

And the fact that very few media outlets are reporting this? Well, shame on them!
An alternative view, you might like to read the whole article.

For political historians, one of the biggest mysteries of the 21st century will remain: how Giuliani went from being celebrated worldwide as “America’s Mayor” to being disgraced as a purveyor of fake news, an international buffoon, the catalyst for Donald Trump’s impeachment, and the clueless target of Borat’s latest prank?

Possibly incorrect. Yes, currently there are more Ds than Rs in the House. But here's the catch:

If the choice for president gets to the House, each state gets only one vote. Not each representative. 26 state legislatures are presently controlled by Republicans, thus a vote held today would go to Trump.

Some states may see changes in which party controls their legislatures with this election, thus why I say "possibly" incorrect. If enough states were to change then Biden could win in such a scenario.

I think the wall around the White House is actually just part of Trump's secret plan to refuse to leave the White House in January if he's not re-elected. They're going to have to ram the wall and then go in there with tear gas, a tranquilizer gun and a straight jacket and drag him out.

Re: Trump or Biden .Who you got?

Ugh, problems already starting. What was it someone (bowlie?) said about lawyers making more money?

Quote:
Spalding County, Georgia, south of Atlanta, reported on its Facebook page a system-wide issue with polling machines and that provisional, paper ballots are currently being sent out to voting locations.
and this gem in a county being watched very closely (emphasis mine)

Quote:
Polling sites in Pennsylvania's Allegheny County are now open after delays

Pennsylvania's Allegheny County, which includes Pittsburgh, had delayed openings in three election districts, according to a county official.

Amie Downs, communications director for the county said Tuesday morning that the three polling sites that were down earlier today “are all open and operating now.”

Earlier this morning, in an emailed statement, Downs addressed the unopened sites:

“At this time, there are three election districts which have not opened. Elections has staff at each site and is creating a new suitcase with materials so that they can open," she said.

Downs explained to CNN that the “suitcase” has the voting materials. Those materials didn’t make it to these locations, but they are working to fix it. She noted that there are sites in Monroeville, McKeesport and Pittsburgh that remain unopened.

Earlier this morning, Downs also gave an update on the processing of mail-in and absentee ballots saying about 25% of the over 334,000 ballots are “at some stage of processing.”

Some of the ballots are further along in the process.

“Over 13,500 have gone through the declaration review and have had the declaration envelope opened and the secrecy envelopes extracted,” she added.
