Perhaps we should send Trump a 'get well soon' present of Cillit Bang.

Re: Trump and first lady test positive for coronavirus

How is Biden supposed to respond to this?

If this isn't another lie, wishing you a speedy recovery?

Trump has just put Biden in a very difficult position. Ignoring any breech of ethics, well done, Trump.

He was in a normal ward and then got moved to intensive care. He is quite open about how serious it was and it is fairly well known that he still faces lasting issues from the virus.
I guess I will face lasting issues from the virus too, thanks for me letting know. I don't do psychosomatic myself so won't let it get in my way.

80% have ZERO symptoms, I was ill so in the unlucky 20%, most of which recover on their own, a small fraction get admitted to hospital. It's a matter of perspective.
Covid deaths will be in the 1-2% range of all deaths for the year, thats people who died 'WITH' rather than 'FROM' Covid.

But there is a difference between legal tax evasion such as finding "loopholes" and illegal tax evasion / tax fraud. If Trump had legally evaded paying taxes, then why has he been so adamantly refusing to reveal his tax returns even despite numerous subpoenas for them?

Here is an article about illegal tax evasion / tax fraud from the Legal Information Institute at Cornell University:

https://www.law.cornell.edu/wex/tax_evasion

"In the United States, tax evasion constitutes a crime that may give rise to substantial monetary penalties, imprisonment, or both. Section 7201 of the Internal Revenue Code reads, “Any person who willfully attempts in any manner to evade or defeat any tax imposed by this title or the payment thereof shall, in addition to other penalties provided by law, be guilty of a felony and, upon conviction thereof, shall be fined not more than $100,000 ($500,000 in the case of a corporation), or imprisoned not more than 5 years, or both, together with the costs of prosecution.”

Covid deaths will be in the 1-2% range of all deaths for the year, thats people who died 'WITH' rather than 'FROM' Covid.
COVID-19 is a virus that attacks the respiratory system, which can cause severe inflammation once it progresses, thus making it very difficult for people to get enough oxygen, which in turn can result in numerous other problems, such as organ failure. Why would you think that people who die while having the COVID virus do not die "FROM" the virus?

Here is an article that explains how and why (some) people die from COVID:

https://www.npr.org/sections/goatsan...=1601631857793

"But the new coronavirus attacks the lungs, and in about 20% of patients, infections can get more serious. As the virus enters lung cells, it starts to replicate, destroying the cells, explains Dr. Yoko Furuya, an infectious disease specialist at Columbia University Irving Medical Center.

"Because our body senses all of those viruses as basically foreign invaders, that triggers our immune system to sweep in and try to contain and control the virus and stop it from making more and more copies of itself," she says.

But Furuya says that this immune system response to this invader can also destroy lung tissue and cause inflammation. The end result can be pneumonia. That means the air sacs in the lungs become inflamed and filled with fluid, making it harder to breathe.

Del Rio says that these symptoms can also make it harder for the lungs to get oxygen to your blood, potentially triggering a cascade of problems. "The lack of oxygen leads to more inflammation, more problems in the body. Organs need oxygen to function, right? So when you don't have oxygen there, then your liver dies and your kidney dies," he says. Lack of oxygen can also lead to septic shock.

The most severe cases — about 6% of patients — end up in intensive care with multi-organ failure, respiratory failure and septic shock, according to a February report from the WHO.

Many of the more serious cases have been in people who are middle-aged and elderly — Furuya notes that our immune system gets weaker as we age."

No one is shocked that Trump paid so little in tax. In fact, the confirmation helps him with his base. Remember the 2016 debate where in response to some barb by HRC he said that not paying taxes "makes me smart"? His base just eats this kind of stuff up, more polish to his image as a brilliant businessman.

The above comes with a big ol' helping of just to be clear.

Legal tax avoidance is, well, legal. No issue there. But that's not really what this is about.

(This assumes that all strategies were indeed legal. There seems to be some question over that, but I'll leave that aside for the tax pros to debate.)

No, a more pressing issue is the amount of debt he appears to be in, and whether or not this poses a concern given his position. Could an official in massive debt be manipulated to act in ways contrary to national security or national interest?

A secondary issue, and perhaps what prompted refusing to release his tax returns, is that they show he is not quite the gazillionaire he presents himself to be. His wealth is central to his image. More importantly self-image.

Trump the most entertaining president ever,
Sitting comfortably in safe Switzerland with no worries about health care, enjoying free education, knowing there is a social safety net available if needed, far removed from the economic and geo-political fall out, how nice to have the luxury to find this entertaining.

Those of us who are citizens, whose friends or family have died or are suffering, and will continue to suffer as our country turns towards authoritarianism, do not. This is not a game.

...It may be just a ploy, but it may not be. Too many people would have to be in on the conspiracy and that means leaks ...

If he really has the virus, Iím a little worried about all the people he has been face-to-face with since Wednesday. Including Joe, Mitch, Pence, that supreme court nominee, and others. I sure hope Nancy has avoided him ...
