Trump and first lady test positive for coronavirus

What a year  hopefully they both pull through.

Coronavirus: Trump and first lady test positive for coronavirus after going into quarantine

US President Donald Trump has said he and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for coronavirus and are now in quarantine.

The president, aged 74 and therefore in a high-risk group, announced the news in a tweet. "We will get through this together," he wrote.

It comes after one of his closest aides tested positive for coronavirus.

Hope Hicks, the 31-year-old adviser to the president, was the closest aide to Mr Trump to test positive so far.

She travelled with him on Air Force One to a TV debate in Ohio this week.

Considering how often he doesn't wear a mask (which appears to be most of the time), I wonder how many people he's infected. He may have already been infected during the debate a few nights ago. And yet there he was, on stage, making fun of Biden for often wearing a mask.

Jair Bolsonaro, Boris Johnson and now Trump all thought it was a joke early on.

Assuming he only got infected early on Wednesday (seems possible from reports) probably not too many - would now only just be giving a positive test and becoming infectious.

Hopefully he tries treating it with Hydroxychlooquine.

I'm sending the Javel tablets.

What a breakdown in security though.
No need for a Friday thread then.

In one news report I saw, his family in the audience at the debate took off their required masks as soon as they sat down; refused to put tney back on when asked to.

I certainly donít wish ill on anyone but it would be ironic if he is unable to attend the next debate, or worse. It might be an informative lesson for his base as well.

Yeah, maybe. But it says that he most likely got it from Hope Hicks, who he had traveled with on Air Force One to the debate Tuesday. She most likely had it then (just hadn't tested positive yet), which means Trump would have become infected on Tuesday -- the day of the debate. It also says "Some of Mr Trump's family members who attended the debate were seen not wearing masks."

Regardless, I think it just goes to show how irresponsible he is for not wearing them. And then to have the nerve to make fun of Biden for wearing them.

Cannot but call this poetic justice.
On the other hand, if he is asymptomatic or has a mild episode, he is going to tell the world that he was right in calling this a democratic hoax. Then many more Americans will die.

I don't know if they were asked to put them back on again, but the Beeb had a picture of them sitting in the audience without their masks on.

It seems they were and the guy who did was seen beating a hasty retreat presumably because he was abused.

You can't help but wonder if it is all made up so he doesn't have to attend the next debate...

I joked to my husband a bit ago that Trump would probably demand to be able to attend the next debate, despite being sick or in quarantine. They'd wheel him out in a huge bubble cage and then it would keep fogging up due to his constant screaming. :p

I think he's creating his own Fake News.

He will steal all the headlines with his Covid diagnosis and avoid any more debates. He will emerge in a few weeks time, having beaten it, possibly not being slowed down at all. Steal the limelight, derail the process.

He will call himself invincible and the seriousness of Covid a Hoax.

Realistically he will recover without any intervention, even for a fat pig in his 70's his chance of survival are extremely high. It's basically just another positive test! So what, who cares?

If Trump does develop any severe symptoms, I think he will probably do his best to try to not have that made public.

Despite Borises general incompetence it's a bit unfair to compare him to those two. He's very eager to bring in new restrictions and regularly wears a mask.
