A senior revolutionary guard in charge of Iran's nuclear weapons program was killed in a firefight yesterday.

Iran threatened Israel with retaliation.

Usually Iran tends to attack "soft" targets - embassies, Jewish community centers, Tourists .

The Emirates & Bahrain have strengthened ties with Israel - a terrorist attack there is now more likely.
I find your post very judgmental and biased. It stops short of justifying what is essentially a state sponsored assassination in another sovereign state.

Itís all ok because itís Israel, any other state committing such an act would have the international community up in arms.

It has international immunity from any wrong doing. They can do whatever the hell they want and nobody bats an eye lid.

Itís this exact injustice and double standard that leads to a perpetual cycle of attacks, counter attacks and retaliation on all sides. There are no winners, itís lose lose all around.

Spreading hate will only create more hate.

So get off your moral high horse and take your condescending drivel somewhere else. Some of us here have studied the history of this conflict that is more than a 120 years old (some would argue even thousands of years) and are not gonna fall for your rubbish.

May you find peace and love.

Of course such topics are always a provocation, or maybe collecting data about enemies of the state, that will be at some point served to you, when trying to enter what of those countries.
Instead of fighting with zealots, just watch this cute and, at the same time, cruel depiction of history of those lands, accompanied with nice song.

Nice slant from the other side. I think it could be an American Casus Belli seeing that they deployed B52īs to the area.

This piece of propaganda rather tells me that Iran is not going to do anything but bark. Claims this was expected, no damage, enemies not ready to fight properly.

Oh, I think they will do something, the government has to in order to appease the hardliners who are baying for blood.
Iīm thinking this could a Trumpian effort to "salt the earth" before leaving office.

Classic Pashosh.

To clarify: the man was a professor as well as general of the revolutionary guards. Thatís a paramilitary organization thatís also the largest employer of the country. Including pretty much all the infrastructure, oil and electricity companies - including nuclear.

Yes, Donald Trump has officially put the on the terror list last year.
According to the Sunday Times

...he was not just a leading nuclear scientist, but a brigadier-general in the Revolutionary Guards who had overseen the development of the countryís nuclear arsenal for two decades.

His killing is, according to the article, unlikely to make a difference overall to the program to get nuclear weapons, but is a big hit against morale. (Or for morale, depending what side you're on).

I would argue that getting some kind of satisfaction or joy from the killing of or taking of a human life, regardless of the background, is not good at all. On the contrary, it is NOT good. It is the exact opposite in fact, it is evil.

Assassinations are always questionable and should be kept to a minimum. Killing a senior officer in a terrorist organization working on a nuclear bomb would be justified - he isn't a civilian, killing him probably delays the nuclear program.

Iran, on the other hand has ordered the assasination of a head of state, attacked diplomats, is holding real academics hostage, murders human rights protestors, hijacked ships, shot down a civilian aircraft - the list is long, yet the world isn't very keen to react.

We know very little about the killing - apperantly, some of the killers were also killed in the firefight. Until Iran comes up with convincing evidence, we don't know who is responsible.

Iran has been hostile to Israel since 1979, before that the relationship was quite friendly. Has it been 120 years since 1979 ? Time goes by so fast these days.

May no one wish to kill you, like Iran wishes death to Israel.

Iran has no territorial conflict with Israel. It seems that you difficulties in Middle eastern geography, as well as not being able to tell the difference between a a Theocratic tyranny and a democracy.

Yeah. But it's highly likely to be Israel. One of Mossadís Kidon teams.

Is assassination more or less moral than war? I can understand why political leaders might be against it!

Israel could be behind the killing of the officer. Unfortunately for Iran they can't torture a confession out of dead people. Maybe the can arrest some more wildlife researchers to help them in their investigations.
