Nuclear Scientist killed in Iran.

A senior revolutionary guard in charge of Iran's nuclear weapons program was killed in a firefight yesterday.

Iran threatened Israel with retaliation.

Usually Iran tends to attack "soft" targets - embassies, Jewish community centers, Tourists .

The Emirates & Bahrain have strengthened ties with Israel - a terrorist attack there is now more likely.

Re: Nuclear Scientist killed in Iran.

Mod changed the title from "Nuclear Terrorist killed in Iran".

To clarify: Mohsen Fakhrizadeh was a senior officer in a terrorist organization, in charge of developing nuclear weapons. He wasn't a civilian scientist, as the new title suggests.

Classic Pashosh.

To clarify: the man was a professor as well as general of the revolutionary guards. Thatís a paramilitary organization thatís also the largest employer of the country. Including pretty much all the infrastructure, oil and electricity companies - including nuclear.

Yes, Donald Trump has officially put the on the terror list last year.

Thank you for the comment confirming that largest employer in Iran is responsible for terrorist attacks abroad & shooting down civilian aircraft - a terrorist organization par excellence.

It's an interesting combination of crony capitalism, state centeral planning & having on it's payroll many people tasked with building nuclear weapons.

It embodies the 1979 Islamist revolutionary slogan, ďNeither East, nor West, Islamic RepublicĒ, perfectly.

This.

Whether one calls the guys a terrorist or not, it is a despicable regime and I am surprised that many in Europe seem still to think the friendly grandfatherly face of former president Khatami is the real face of this "Islamic Republic". A great country in the hands of thieves and fundamentalists.

Which is one of the single worst things about switzerland - it does not care about world events but is happy to do business with anyone regardless of their domestic or international activities.

Neutrality does not mean you don't care. And particularly in Iran, Switzerland plays an important role as it de facto represents the United States.

Doubt that anyone in Europe has any illusions about Iran. But yes, they do not blindly swallow US propaganda that tries to paint any country which resists its worldview as being inhuman / terroristic / unstable.
Coming to nuclear proliferation, have never understood why nuclear powers get to decide that no one should join their ranks. That is the ultimate hypocrisy.

Of course. And people are allowed to name a thread accordingly to their opinion. It is Pahosh's view. He started the thread. Neutrality and democracy is based on letting people voice their opinions. We can then dispute his issue in the thread.

Ah, again, one terrorist state is killing visible members of the other terrorist state. And no one care about citizens.

At least there is still North Korea, so Middle East countries doesn't look as the worst place to live in the eyes of the Western society.

Some people might think that Israel acting in this provocative fashion to prompt Trump to act before Biden gets into power and resumes a dialogue with Iran.

You made a comment about Swiss people. I drew a parallel about OP and what we can do in the thread. I think the reason is EF being a democratic platform in a democratic country.

I honestly doubt it. I think it is a long term, independent strategy.

Re: Nuclear Scientist killed in Iran.

Quote:
''.........was an Iranian IRG officer associated with Iranian Nuclear Program. According to IRB’s state media, he taught physics at Imam Hussein University in Tehran and a brigadier general in the Iranian Revolutionary Guard.[2][3] It is unclear what his education was or whether he had ever earned any graduate degree since no research has ever been published by him. A UN Security Council resolution in 2007 identified him as a senior scientist in the Ministry of Defence and Armed Forces Logistics and the former head of the Physics Research Center (PHRC) at Lavizan-Shian.[4]''
So in other words; he was not a 'rocket' scientist, but simply a high level military bueurocrat, charged with developing WMD for another imbecilic theocracy oppressing its own people.
