Apologies for this thread having become side-tracked. But that's apparently how it goes on the EF. You comment with something and then someone mistakes their interpretation for your intention and then blows it up and continues to try to desperately prove themselves right rather than questioning their own assumptions and interpretation. And on and on it goes...

It's tiresome.
No, it's precisely the same people who're doing that every time I look. It's misguided anger in some cases and it's sad to watch it.

If Trump would have said that, we would be joking about it.
Obviously it's far too early to judge President Biden, however it's funny how quickly the roles have reversed with the Republicans just aping the playbook set by the Democrats throughout the Trump administration. With the President setting records in the number of executive orders signed (I remember when President Trump was accused of being "dictatorial" for doing the same). Already the right wing media have taken up the baton with niggardly assessments of the President Biden's first days in power. The courts being used to push back. Every "lie" being tallied" etc.

This was all very predictable but still amusing seeing it in reality!

Re: Will Biden be a good President?

I am not sure the GOP senators voting against the Trump impeachment are doing themselves any favours.

Quote:
More than 30,000 voters who had been registered members of the Republican Party have changed their voter registration in the weeks after a mob of pro-Trump supporters attacked the Capitol.

The massive wave of defections is a virtually unprecedented exodus that could spell trouble for a party that is trying to find its way after losing the presidential race and the Senate majority.

It could also represent the tip of a much larger iceberg: The 30,000 who have left the Republican Party reside in just a few states that report voter registration data, and information about voters switching between parties, on a weekly basis.
For example, nearly 10,000 Pennsylvania voters dropped out of the Republican Party in the first 25 days of the year where Biden had a slim 70,000 majority.

You do know it was the GOP in President Obama time who started the courts being used to push back with national injunctions?

And as for Trump

If elected, I will undo all of Obama’s executive orders. I will deliver. Let’s Make America Great Again!

Re: Will Biden be a good President?

Now that the donkey party controls both chambers, what is it with the endless signing of Executive Orders? Why can't the parliament again assume its actual function, introduce legislation, debate and vote?

There seem to have been no real debates on actual policy matters and legislation in Congress in years. And that goes well back into the Obama years.

To early to judge Biden?? Do we need another 40 years of status quo muppeteering?

I know there are offense archaeologists active on this platform that enjoy digging back over past posts, however even they would never find a "right of right" position that I've taken. Another peculiar trait of modern internet discourse, the willingness to revert to straw men when normal lines of argument fail.

Could you perhaps tone down the casual racism?
Key words: my point of view. How is it straw man? I disagree with you. Stop clutching for the moral high ground, or what passes for it. Or at least stop with the selective reading. If you honestly believe you have presented yourself as moderate on here then... ok.

How is it casual racism? Some folk are white. Some are not.

Racism in the dictionary: prejudice, discrimination, or antagonism by an individual, community, or institution against a person or people on the basis of their membership of a particular racial or ethnic group, typically one that is a minority or marginalized.

There are way too many white males on this forum screaming about being victims of racism and sexism.
This.

A bit similar to Alpha of the pack even if it's a female. There's no other term for the same role regardless of gender.

I suggest you go and educate yourself on "The World Economic Forum". They have an annual meeting in Davos. The theme of 2020 was the "Great Reset". Go look it up. Key point was "You will own nothing and be happy". Their words not mine.

Wha..??You made me spill my coffee....are there many Chads let alone popular? I know Kevin. I mean they could've chosen Ted. Ken. Or Ben. It looks (to me) they're slightly more popular.

Edit> google is dumbo dumb. I searched Chad men and I got images from Unicef and Save the Children related websites. About the country Chad not the poster guy Chad. With soldiers in the desert and children.
Smth. like this

Apologies to all the Chads out there.

Ahh, there seems to be more about Karens.

Now back to the thread....is there anyone who can actually say anything about Biden? Maybe I'm gonna check this thread in a year just to be on the safe side. Everyone has a limit and I've reached mine.

Re: Will Biden be a good President?

New US COVID-19 cases have been declining steadily for over two weeks now. Good to have a President who does not jump into Twitter claiming personal credit for every improvement.
It was a real "gift from God" for Biden that Twitter banned Trump.

Daily US deaths are still high, over 4,000 again yesterday, but hopefully will soon start tracking downwards following the trend of the new cases.
