Re: Will Biden be a good President?

This lawmaker has the right idea, more power to him.
Quote:
GOP Rep. Madison Cawthorn (N.C.) on Friday argued against President Biden’s proposed "door-to-door" pro-COVID-19 vaccine campaign, claiming the same methods could also be used to “take” people's guns and Bibles.

Cawthorn made the assertion in a Friday interview with conservative news outlet Right Side Broadcasting Network

You might have missed it, but Trump started the troop withdrawal in 2020. His initial goal was to have all troops home by Christmas. In fact his administration negotiated a peace deal with the Taliban to have troops out by May of 2021. Biden has pushed that back by a few months.

It's a messy situation with no tidy end.

A few articles here. First, from when Trump negotiated the deal:
https://www.foxnews.com/opinion/trum...tan-jim-hanson

And more recently, when Biden announced an extension:
https://www.foxnews.com/politics/bid...al-troops-home

Some analysis and backstory here. It's a bit outdated since it's from March but there's still some interesting info:
https://www.usatoday.com/in-depth/ne...en/4667248001/

Some reports say the Taliban hasn't held to its end of the agreement, but the USA is leaving anyway.

Of course the Taliban hasn't, it never does. It's only goal is to make Afghanistan into an Islamic run state and doesn't care about anything else.

Just for the record, Trump announced the US withdrawal from Afghanistan last year but there was not a single post here about it.

Thanks 3W.

Afghanistan is, was and likely always will be exactly that, Taliban or not. And the West gave not two shits about that pre 9/11.

And we should not now. It is an ungovernable place with little strategic relevance.

The total amount of canceled student loan debt by the Biden administration is now $1.5 billion. Sleepy Joe is doing such a great job.

Don't neglect to provide reputable sources when making statements. People ideally shouldn't have to go and google links to validate your posts.

Re: Will Biden be a good President?

Marton, I think California dreamer knows very well about this

"Afghan conflict: US and Taliban sign deal to end 18-year war Published29 February 2020"

It is how this pull out is been carried I think that's the question..

(because, The US began withdrawing forces even before the Feb2020)

Feel genuinely sorry for the decent non Taliban type Afghans! Well and truly shafted by the west, specially USA!

Feel sorry for the women folk whose dreams are now crushed! Kabul will probably fall within 6 months!

IIRC the withdrawal has been attempted multiple times.

It looks like the local helpers are thrown under the bus. That'll teach them, as well as the residents of every country the USA will invade in the future.

Well, let's not forget the Russians tried it first and still left the country in the same sad state as it was before they went in.

Well, USA played a major part back then too. So USA basically screwed Afghans twice!

Complaining that the gap between rich and poor is getting bigger but cancelling loans for people who are likely to get rich?

Not really. Lots of these folks are struggling to be in the middle class.

Likely to get rich???? I'd venture that many of the people with student loans are still struggling to get their "degrees," and I use that word lightly. There are limited jobs for the minority who graduate. I'd estimate that 70% of them rack up debts but never graduate and, even if they did, never be able to function in a business. If you add those in crappy state universities, etc., it's a disaster.

Well yes , so then why not do something about the crapiness of the degrees and the crapiness of the universities that issue them ?

Cancelling debt is not creating any initiative to change anything . On the contrary it is rewarding crappy universities
