Re: Cancel Culture

Just had an extended session of blocking people on twitter this morning. The promoted tweets are just guys telling how the new CEO is great. So, the space that should be sold to external customers for revenue is now used to promote the CEO.

Sales people tell how great their products, services and workers are. Never seen before such a large company putting more effort into selling the CEO compared to selling an actual service or product. In the case of twitter it's ads.

Nope, there's about seven thousand and seven hundred million people on Earth that don't use twitter.

Useful to get direct and succinct info from journalists, government organizations, weather alerts, and of course shitposting.

It is a useful place to get information so long as you use credible sources, in the future, it may not be possible to determine which are credible due to Elon's dabbling in the qualification process.

I probably only tweet a few times a year and then as replies not as new stuff, I did access it today to vote against Trump's restoration.

Some newspapers are claiming Elon is transferring engineers from other companies to Twitter, poor sods!

Edit: the same thread has a poll on indicting Trump, around 70% in favour.

And from Trump's former Secretary of State

And so are most Republicans.

Heartening to see the most egregious example of big tech censorship and overreach has been reversed.

Even if the political wind is out of President Trump’s sails and he never tweets again, this is an important moment and one hopes a turning point.

I’m sure the twitter poll was 100% genuine with absolutely no bots voting for his return. Honest.

Yeah, just like in the real (US) elections the yes vote was overwhelming at first and it started to tighten as more no votes were "found".

The art scene was amazing on Twitter after the fall of Tumblr. It's also pretty good for getting quick updates on sports news.

The trick was to not interact with the political side of it. The second you did, your feed became 50% political back 'n' forth bickering and could take weeks of ignoring it before it started to disappear from your feed.

Now political stuff is being promoted whether you like it or not. It's interesting to watch in 'Rome is burning' kind of way, but otherwise I'm waiting to see where the art scene migrates next. There's no real front runners at the moment.

Coincidentally the final results were almost identical to the Brexit results, I wish Twitter the same success

If he does start posting on Twitter then he'll anger all the investors in his own platform, Truth Social, which could lose him support for his Presidential candidate campaign.

But he'll probably need to post on Twitter to gain as much support as possible.

He'll need to make a decision.

Re: Cancel Culture

It's quite ironic to see #RipTwitter trend - on Twitter.

As for the apparently chaotic developments since the takeover, there appears to be kind of a plan behind it all, the intent to go by trial and error.

Also ironic how Elon fails to take responsibility.
He is the one who will be doing lots of dumb things, not Twitter.

Likely to be a very long trial and error process or to put it another way "which of the dumb things he has done so far works and so will be kept"?
