It is his own business, he also has a right to express it and you have a right to be offended and not read anything from him again

Again, like you said, he is a writer and this used to be called creative writing
Considering he lifted it from Game of Thrones, I think the word you are looking for is plagarism.

For me this is undoubtedly the worst part of cancel culture. That we've now arrived at the situation where comedians are telling other comedians which jokes are and are not acceptable.

It's the same with journalists getting cancelled. Journalists cheering other journalists getting censored rather than standing up for free speech (which is their job!!). Or even when the NY Post got cancelled, there was almost no condemnation from other media outlets, just either openly supporting the big tech decisions to ban or turning the other way in quiet approval. Same goes for doctors and scientists who spoke out against lockdown.

As awful as this behaviour is, it's the complete lack of foresight that they too can also be cancelled. Which is why we saw the pure indignant outrage this week when those journalists got their accounts suspended. What's worse is they still don't seem to get it.

He is such a hypocrite and liar. His nose should grow as big as Pinocchio's.

He definitely wanted to "cause hurt" and knew exactly his words will achieve the purpose.

Quote:
"In a column I wrote about Meghan, I made a clumsy reference to a scene in Game of Thrones and this has gone down badly with a great many people."
Ipso, the independent press standards organisation, told BBC News the complaints were being assessed in accordance with its standard procedure.
Clarkson's comments were widely criticised on social media over the weekend.
On Sunday, Clarkson's own daughter Emily said: "I want to make it very clear that I stand against everything my dad wrote about Meghan Markle."
The total number of complaints made to Ipso in 2021 was 14,355. The Sun told BBC News earlier on Monday it did not have anything further to add.

Meanwhile US media is having such a good day by mentioning Mr. Clarkson's links with Amazon.

Quote:
Jeremy Clarkson, the host of the docuseries Clarkson’s Farm on Amazon Prime, has released a statement after a column he wrote in Brit tabloid The Sun about Meghan Markle led to more than 6,000 complaints to the country’s press regulator....The Hollywood Reporter has reached out to a rep for the show for comment.
https://www.hollywoodreporter.com/tv...un-1235284532/

Quote:
Clarkson, who hosts motoring show “The Grand Tour” on Amazon, wrote in tabloid newspaper The Sun that he hated the former Meghan Markle “on a cellular level” and dreamed of her being paraded naked through British towns “while the crowds chant ‘Shame!’ and throw lumps of excrement at her.”
https://apnews.com/article/entertain...13f26145394b85

Mr. Clarkson may have made himself unemployable by Amazon and it's going to cry about CANCEL CULTURE!!!

Of course. Well, it doesn't matter if the reasons for which the American press stands up for other American citizens, regardless of their colour, ethnicity, gender, creed, sexual orientation and everything in between, are purely mercantile or whatever.

If only Jeremy Clarkson had not beaten his crewman and would still run Top Gear. I would be happily watching it, he wouldn't need to write these bullshit commentaries - and you could name and shame someone else.

He also lamped Piers Morgan a few years ago, too, so he’s got form. As for naming and shaming; is that even possible for someone writing in a national newspaper? Surely he named and shamed himself..?

A financially orientated opinion piece on possible next steps for Elon and Twitter; note it is laced with some sarcasm, so quite amusing and with some interesting views.

To defend his wife's honour....no less!! So it's fine when he does it. This guy keeps delivering.....

Quote:
He said: "At the 2004 British Press Awards I ran into Piers Morgan, who said something unkind about my wife.

“So, even though I was calm and sober, having just come from a recording of Call My Bluff, I hit him and immediately a gang of portly hacks gathered round, chanting, 'Finish it', while the motoring editor of The Sun held everyone back by warning them that he was from Newcastle."

They certainly give the impression of being a confused and furious mess of contradictions and old-fashioned hypocrisy. Wailing about cancel culture until someone says something hurty to them or their loved ones. Then it’s all pompously justified. Don’t know why they can’t just be honest with themselves and admit that being shitty to people is just not on.

Re: Cancel Culture

I'm having one of those nights where I feel like there's so much bullshit in the world that I can't keep up with it anymore.

There should be a proper term for that... or maybe there already is... for feeling overwhelmed by the world's bullshit.

Part 7 of the Twitter Files, goes into further details of FBI interference. Most alarmingly the FBI paying Twitter $3.4 million over the course over a 16 month period.

Aside from the collusion aspect, the cost and resources involved, election meddling etc. the single worst thing imo is a government agency telling the media what they can and can't publish

Funny that there isn't this level of forensic outrage over all the years of Trump and family's criminal activity and business indiscretions, isn't it? All comes across as a bit "selective indignation".

Exactly.

I can only quote Nicola Sturgeon here

Quote:
“I think what he said about Meghan Markle was deeply misogynist and downright awful and horrible. I have to say, taking a step back from it, my overwhelming emotion about guys like Jeremy Clarkson is pity.

“What is it that makes someone so distorted by hate that they end up wiring these things possible gives an insight into Jeremy Clarkson and the kind of person he is so maybe he just needs to take a step back from things. Just think about life a bit more.”
Quote:
“But words have consequences. Again, I’m a passionate believer in free speech, but one person’s exercise of what they consider to be free speech, if that impinges on the safety of somebody else, then clearly there is a balance there not being struck.

“So everybody has to exercise the rights we all cherish in our society today with a degree of respect, civility and responsibility.”

I am relieved there were strong reactions coming from politicians over there, hope I'll read more of this stuff. It's sort of reassuring the angry old males won't have their way.

You do know there is a subtle distinction between "asking" and "telling", but probably not. You are unable to point to a single email or document which supports "telling".
You do know this was all during the Trump administration.

No ones safety was impinged upon. It was a bad taste joke, people need to get a grip.

Another consequence of cancel culture, there's no place for comedy.

Not true, as many of your posts show a bit of absurdist comedy, much like the Goon Show, Marx Brothers, Monty Python, or Mr. Show.
