Re: Your Political Compass Test (3Min.)

Pew Research with a new typology test, US focus. And you can take the quiz here:

https://www.pewresearch.org/politics...ical-typology/

I scored as Ambivalent Right. But then, I am not American.

I found many of those questions difficult to answer due to how limited the answer choices were, so I felt that I couldn't answer them with 100% honesty, but my result was "Progressive Left" ... which isn't really a surprise.

Re: Your Political Compass Test (3Min.)

Thanks for sharing that poll. It was pretty interesting. Looking for a sample size of one, I would say it does a pretty good job of putting people in categories. I thought the questions did a good job of putting someone on either end of the US political spectrum, but it got very "squishy" for those of us in the middle.

Apart from the test, I find their analysis of the groups quite good.

Re: Your Political Compass Test (3Min.)

Apparently, I'm a Democratic Mainstay and "...generally favor policies that expand the social safety net and support higher taxes on corporations, and have a moderate tilt on other issues, including immigration and crime."

Well maybe, but I wouldn't spell "favor" like that...

The second test was a bit short to give an accurate representation of real stance on issues. Never the less, I'm apparently a mix of Democrat and Republican, which is likely true. Interesting information on the political typology quiz.

Establishment Liberal….not quite progressive left as I find neither political party attractive, and some other stuff I guess. It‘s ok.

Same - I did not think this was an ideal test even though I am not surprised by my "Progressive Left" result - I took one that was far better for American politics on the NY Times, apologies for the paywall:

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/...s-parties.html

If my country finally woke up from the two party system, I would be a member of the "Progressive Party"

Re: Your Political Compass Test (3Min.)

On Political Compass, I'm bang in the middle. But for the pew research one, I'm Outsider Left which "are the youngest typology group". Bit weird, but I like the youngest bit!

The first test was made up of questions aimed to check out whether you're a fascist - socially, or a communist - economically.
Though I have the feeling that some people do need to check out their reality....from time to time.

I guess it's also customised for countries outside of Europe, we don't hold such black and white views here and we defo don't need to check out constantly our willingness to have an inclusive and secularist society.

Just did that as well. "Growth and Opportunity" which seems quite consistent with "Ambivalent Right" in the Pew one.

Re: Your Political Compass Test (3Min.)

I had the same results as ennui, although I don't know that I'm comfortable being that far left. Some of the questions, as Pancakes said, are poorly worded or don't have enough nuance. In particular the question about White advantage (using the word "fairly" as a quantifier) could skew things.
