I find it interesting that the Trump website uses the same capitalisation that many German-Americans use for nouns. Well, his grossvater was kicked out of Pfalz by the Bavarian king...

Ftfy.

Nothing to do with German-Americans, it’s a Trump thing.

This. If I were anyone of the Trump-crew, my flat and office would be clean as a whistle. If theirs aren't they are even more stupid than so far perceived.

Re: Trump - post Presidency thread

I think we have been looking at this all wrong, or at least in terms of our focus on Trump rather than Trumpism.

Trump simply enabled and legitimised the underbelly of the GOP (aka Trump base) where nationalism/nativism, racism and extremism didn't need to be kept behind close doors.

Trump is all but gone, but the methodology/ideology has metastasised and spreading without him. That is, likes of Cruz, McCarthy, Green and Johnson know that lies and conspiracy theories keep the base engaged more than good ol' conservative policies and values.

She seemed super-nervous or "edgy" in that interview. Looks like she played her movie character a bit. Anyway, I'm still not sure how they got away with that scene..

Re: Trump - post Presidency thread

It's getting even more hilarious.

"A controversial new bill that would stop tech companies from deplatforming politicians has been approved by both houses in Florida's legislature.

The bill must now be signed off by Trump ally, Governor Ron DeSantis.

The legislation allows platforms to suspend accounts, but only for 14 days, and could fine the platforms as much as $250,000 per day for violating the law."

"The bill includes a clause that exempts a company "that owns and operates a theme park or entertainment complex" - which allows Disney to be exempt from this bill.

Florida is home to the Disney World theme park.

NBC Miami reported some law makers saw this as "hypocritical".

"If Facebook buys a theme park, does that prevent us from being able to regulate what happens on Facebook?" asked Andrew Learned a Democratic member of Florida's House of Representatives.

"So, if they bought a theme park and named it Zuckerland and he met the definition of a theme park under Florida statute, then yes," said Republican Representative Blaise Ingoglia."

Re: Trump - post Presidency thread

Slow progress to the truth.

The Newsmax conservative network issued a public apology to a Dominion Voting Systems employee on Friday after airing false allegations against the worker involving the 2020 presidential election.

The conservative network said in a statement posted to its website that it found "no evidence" backing up claims that employee Eric Coomer had manipulated voting machines or votes as previously alleged.

This is the second time Newsmax has walked back allegations it spread during its coverage of the presidential election and Trump’s false claims of widespread voter fraud.

“There are several facts our viewers and readers should be aware of,” the network wrote last December. “No evidence has been offered that Dominion or Smartmatic used software or reprogrammed software that manipulated votes in the 2020 election.”
