The parent company of the National Enquirer has reached a settlement with the Federal Election Commission (FEC) and paid $187,500 for breaking a campaign finance law over its payment of ex-model Karen McDougal, who claimed to have had an affair with former President Trump.
David Pecker, the former CEO of American Media, admitted in 2018 to prosecutors that he took a story of McDougal’s alleged affair with Trump off the market during the 2016 election.

Trump launched a website, dubbed “From the Desk of Donald Trump,” last month to communicate with supporters. He has now shut it down.
There were rumours that although there was a huge number of visitors on the first day the audience had rapidly declined since then and stabilised at around 15,000 interactions per day.
A slew of social media platforms, including Twitter and Facebook, banned Trump in the wake of the Jan. 6 Capitol riot, citing his unsupported claims of widespread voter fraud in the 2020 presidential election.
Trump has been trying to restore his "social media voice" even claiming he would launch his own service. Of course, a full-scale service to compete with Twitter and Facebook would cost a fortune to set up and run and we know how keen Trump is to spend his own money, not.

As of Thursday, at least 10 Capitol police officers had not yet returned to duty due to injuries in the Jan 6 riot, and D.C., Metropolitan Police confirmed that seven officers on the force remained on "less than full duty status" as of Friday due to injuries associated with the Capitol attack.
The Jan 6 riot damage is now estimated at $1.5 million.
Facebook is expected to announce today that the social media platform will end a policy that largely shielded politicians from repercussions when they violated the site's hate speech rules, the move comes after the Oversight Board said the “same rules should apply to all users” after ruling that former President Trump should remain suspended from the platform for violating its content moderation guidelines.

Must post this Friday story before Friday is gone | Quote: | | | | A Trump supporter accused of storming the US Capitol and heckling police officers for "protecting pedophiles" previously served jail time after being convicted in the statutory rape of a 14-year-old girl, according to court records.
McHugh was recorded by police body-worn cameras heckling the officers with a megaphone. | | | | | | This user would like to thank marton for this useful post:

Well deserved | Quote: | | | | Facebook announced Friday that it is suspending former President Donald Trump until Jan. 7, 2023, a full two years after he was first barred from the platform.
After that date, Facebook will evaluate whether the "risk to public safety" of restoring Trump's account has abated.
If the suspension is then lifted, Trump will be subject to a "strict" set of sanctions for future policy violations, Facebook said. | | | | | | The following 2 users would like to thank marton for this useful post:

Straws in the wind or a one-off? | Quote: | | | | Jack Ciattarelli, who had called Trump a “charlatan” in 2015, won the GOP primary in the New Jersey gubernatorial race yesterday defeating two other Republicans who had aligned themselves more closely with former President Trump.
Trump did not endorse any Republican candidate in the NJ governor's race, although he is now living in NJ. | | | | | Edit: Trump backers lose big as Ciattarelli claims GOP nomination in N.J. |

Trump's DOJ was not only spying on Journalists and Dem Congress members but also; | Quote: | | | | Apple revealed to Don McGahn, a White House counsel under former President Trump, that the company complied with a 2018 Department of Justice subpoena regarding information on an account of his, according to a New York Times report.
Apple reportedly received the subpoena on Feb. 23, 2018, and turned over information to the government. It did not disclose to McGahn what information was turned over, and it isn't clear how the information would have been used, the Times noted, adding that Apple was not able to tell McGahn at the time.
McGahn’s wife also received "a similar notice" from Apple, the Times reported, though the report does not indicate why.

Bizarre | Quote: | | | | New emails show how former President Donald Trump's White House assistant, chief of staff and other allies pressured the Justice Department to investigate claims of voter fraud in the 2020 election -- and how Trump directed allies to push then-acting Attorney General Jeffrey Rosen to join the legal effort to challenge the election result, according to a batch of emails released by Democrats on the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday.
Including a Giuliani ally pushing a conspiracy theory that Italy was using military technology and satellites to somehow change votes to Joe Biden.
"I flatly refused, said I would not be giving any special treatment to Giuliani or any of his 'witnesses,' and re-affirmed yet again that I will not talk to Giuliani about any of this," Rosen wrote to then-acting Deputy Attorney General Richard Donoghue. | | | | | Meanwhile the Arizona election audit plods on | Quote: | | | | Arizona auditors near finish of hand recount.
Randy Pullen, a spokesman for the audit commissioned by state Senate Republicans, said auditors are now looking for an attorney who can read braille. About 50,000 braille ballots were cast in last year's election. | | | | | Farcical, they should have looked for a braille reader months ago, no wonder they cannot give a firm completion date.

I thought it was the Dems who are anti-police | Quote: | | | | The House passed legislation on Tuesday to award Congressional Gold Medals — one of the highest civilian honors — to police officers who defended the Capitol during the violent Jan. 6 insurrection.
Lawmakers handily passed the legislation. Members of both parties supported it, 406-21, with all of the votes in opposition coming from conservative Republicans.

When you thought maybe it could not get any weirder | Quote: | | | | Fox News host Tucker Carlson, used his opening segment on Tuesday night to slam the FBI, saying it played a role in the January 6 attack following an article published Monday by Revolver News, a right-wing website.
Several Republican lawmakers quickly piled on.
They entered the article into the congressional record, tweeted about the Fox News segment, condemned the FBI agents who supposedly "organized and participated" in the Capitol attack, and demanded answers from the FBI director.
