I was 20 years in CH & never had any vaccinations, it's not as if vaccination is normal for adults, I don't think my 91 year old mother has had any vaccinations in the last 70 years either.

Re: Controversy surrounding the introduction of Covid Passports

I was vaccinated against Rubella in Switzerland as an adult. Also what about encephalitis, aren’t you afraid of that? I come from the region with extremely high level of infected ticks and I am scared to deaths of encephalitis, get vaccinated against it once in 10 years. Now the Covid vaccine is coming, probably will have to get it sooner or later, and probably more than once.

When I received the jab today they asked if I wanted to have the new digital vaccination card. I showed him my very full yellow vaccination card and asked if the previous vaccines could be inscribed in it and he said yes, so I agreed to sign up for the new digital one.

Interesting - this wasn't mentioned in Zurich canton. Just a piece of paper saying you've received the first jab. Maybe they're saving it for the second and final jab?

Ironically, many people are more scared of Lyme disease than encephalitis. And there's no vaccine for that...

I am not really not that afraid of anything, I know with 100% certainty that I will die, the only question is when.

For what it's worth it was first jab, Canton VD. Already received an attestion of first dose electronically and SMS saying much the same within 1 minute of receiving the shot.

Which reminds me whatever happened to the scourge of the 20th century, namely rabies and the fear
of being bitten by a rabid dog. As many's the time I'd holiday on the south coast to be confronted by
these posters.

Now, most Western countries demand dogs have rabies vaccination so the problem has gone away.

Oral rabies vaccination (ORV) of foxes has proved a remarkably successful tool and has led to the elimination of fox-mediated rabies from vast areas of Western and Central Europe.

Turkey is the only country in Europe where dog-mediated rabies remains a problem and has spilled over to foxes.

Tell me, as one of the most characteristic symptoms of people going down with rabies is
when they are foaming at the mouth & cannot swallow their saliva - how can we tell and
maintain a distance from them, when were all wearing facemasks.

My Swiss GP advised me not to take the encephalitis vaccin when I made an appointment to have it done when I moved here because the BAG website advises it. He said unless you roll around in the high grass on a daily basis it's better to just check for ticks (going for nature hikes 1-2 times a week was not enough to take it according to him).

I followed his advice.

Re: Controversy surrounding the introduction of Covid Passports

Decisions like this tend to roll over any concerns people have about the introduction of Covid Passports.
Quote:
Americans who have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19 will be allowed to visit the European Union (EU) this summer, more than a year after nonessential travel was suspended between the U.S. and Europe amid the pandemic.

Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, told The New York Times in Brussels on Sunday that EU member states will “accept, unconditionally” people who are inoculated with European Medicines Agency-approved vaccines.
Edit: there were over 30 million US tourists in Europe in 2019.

Re: Controversy surrounding the introduction of Covid Passports

Regardless of the pro/con discussions, it is happening.

The eyes of European leaders are on Denmark as it becomes the continent's first country to fully embrace Covid passports

For 27-year-old Nikoline Maria Flørnæss Brandenborg her most recent visit to a Copenhagen bar was a little different from the previous one, five months earlier.

The music at Frederiksberg Ølbar was as loud as before lockdown and the beer just as expensive. But before getting the drinks in this time, Nikoline had to first show the bartender her corona passport to prove she was infection-free.

It is now possible to dine indoors at a restaurant with up to nine others, provided you reserve a table and everyone has a coronapas. Museums, zoos, and even football stadiums are now opening up – for those with the all-important passport.

After nearly a year of closed borders, the European Union could open in June to fully vaccinated vacationers from countries with low Covid infection rates in time for summer under a plan revealed on Monday.
