Despite being a mid millennial, I feel like I'm spiritually a boomer, or at least would like to be. They are the best, who wouldn't want to be a boomer. They don't give a monkeys about what anyone else thinks and do whatever they want. Not self righteous useless little twerps like my generation.

Millenial here. Not caring too much is not a exclusive character trait of boomers. Once I was an adolescent growing up with rock and metal culture. Never aspired to make music or start a band, just loved the mayhem around it

Cancel culture is part of an effort to force a certain worldview onto others, and shut down everybody who disagrees, or in many cases who doesn't fully agree. Fighting that and demanding it stops is far from the same as forcing one's own opinion onto them in return.

If I have been born 30 years before I may have been erased from this planet because the war on communism. The wrong books, the wrong music, long hair, not being a bootlicker, my parents lived through that. They tell me that when someone stood out from the masses, that person just become a name in a list of missing people: university students, young professionals. Some people complain about cancel culture because they don't know have any idea about actual repression and total absence of human rights. I think I'm not the only one whose boomer parents had experiences like that. In lots of places students and the military clashed in public squares.

Not sure what you're aiming at here. Are you saying, like, "be glad, it could be worse"? Because, elsewhere and decades ago it was? How could that be justification for something else?

Well, I guess some people will never adapt and they will always praise the world they were born to and events they lived through. They will perceive the next generation as always being at failure and not the same. It’s generations conflict but life always moves on and the world of tomorrow won’t remain the same world of yesterday. You gotta go with the flow and stop bitching and moaning!

That, and I think the more some people spend on the interwebz, the more they believe everyone is out there to get them if they don't conform.

The old guy is right and should make these recommendations to everyone else, including those who're fighting against the cancel culture; read the printed press and books, get out more and smell the coffee. Yeah, things have changed a little since their golden era but that's not necessarily a bad thing.

It's funny some of these oldies would use wikipedia as a reliable source of citation and then complain about those young bastards that don't read anymore.
