As often as Trump’s tweets did, I’m sure. | | | | | There are claims that Pence was suspicious of the motivation of the Secret Service agents who wanted him to get in a car at the Capitol on Jan 6. The claims are he feared he would be whisked away and not brought back in time to certify the votes.
Probably we will never know the truth, we do know Pence refused to get in the car.
Hopefully, there will be text quotes from the day to clarify the situation.
There are claims that quotes may have been lost during a planned equipment upgrade. They primarily use a secure email system where messages are distributed by and stored on a central server so it is hard to understand how messages could be lost.

Slow moving but seems to be getting there. | Quote: | | | | The Atlanta-area district attorney investigating Donald Trump and his allies' efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election in Georgia has informed 11 individuals who were put forward as fake electors on behalf of the former president that there they are considered targets in the ongoing criminal probe, according to new court documents filed Tuesday.
Fulton County DA Fani Willis' office informed lawyers for the 11 fake electors that the status changed from witness to target was the result of "new evidence" that has come to light over the course of the probe.
The new court filings show 11 electors from Georgia who prosecutors could bring charges against. | | | | | |

---- Senators announce bipartisan bills to stop candidates from stealing elections
The two measures would overhaul the Electoral Count Act and close other loopholes in election law in an attempt to prevent future coup attempts. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/con...rcna39124?s=09
"Apart from Manchin and Collins, other members of the group include Sens. Rob Portman, R-Ohio; Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz.; Mitt Romney, R-Utah; Jeanne Shaheen, D-N.H.; Lisa Murkowski, R-Alaska; Mark Warner, D-Va.; Thom Tillis, R-N.C.; Chris Murphy, D-Conn.; Shelley Moore Capito, R-W.Va.; Ben Cardin, D-Md.; Todd Young, R-Ind.; Chris Coons, D-Del.' and Ben Sasse, R-Neb., and Sen. Some senators are sponsoring one of the two bills but not the other."

An amusing moment from the Committee hearing yesterday.
Before the riot, Sen. Josh Hawley (R-MO) raised his fist in solidarity with the protesters. Then when the awful truth dawned he ran away like hell, watch the video (after the first 13 seconds) it is only 1.5 minutes long.

| | Re: January 6 US Capitol Insurrection | Quote: | | | | A federal jury found former Trump adviser Steve Bannon guilty on two counts of contempt of Congress for defying a subpoena from the House select committee investigating the Jan. 6 attack.
Bannon faces a minimum sentence of 30 days in jail, according to federal law.
After two days of hearing evidence and witness testimony, the jury reached a unanimous verdict in less than three hours. | | | | | No doubt there will be appeals and such, hopefully, this will encourage the other holdouts to obey their subpoenas.
After Jan 6 Sen. Josh Hawley sold mugs with his picture where he raised his fist in solidarity with the rioters.
Now after the video of him running away, social media is full of pictures of proposed mug upgrades like a lid to ensure the contents don't spill when running. |

True, but in two years DeSantis will only be 45 and have some solid experience under his belt. He'll continue to be the rising star of the party.
By the time the 2024 election rolls around, Trump will be 78.5 years old with no recent political accomplishments because he's been out of office. And he'll still be out of touch with most of reality.
I think long-term DeSantis is going to garner more support as the party's future rather than a continued look back at Trump. | | | | | Curious Friday fact | Quote: | | | | 55 percent … of Ron DeSantis supporters say they never wear a mask in crowded, indoor spaces — a higher percentage than Trump supporters (46 percent), Republicans (39 percent) and ideological conservatives (42 percent). | | | | | |

A quote "Something stinks in the state of Denmark". | Quote: | | | | Missing text messages for top Trump administration Homeland Security officials in the days surrounding Jan. 6, 2021, are raising new questions about why the agency’s watchdog did not alert officials to the potential destruction of records.
According to a document obtained by the Project on Government Oversight, text messages for former acting Homeland Security Secretary Chad Wolf as well as his deputy, Ken Cuccinelli, could not be located.
DHS’s own watchdog failed in multiple instances to notify lawmakers about the missing messages. | | | | | So, not only the secret service |

Do you see the difference between the secret service claiming certain information is secret therefore we cannot share it versus instead saying "Oooppss, we lost the information we are legally required to preserve".
I suppose not?

Down in the forest, something stirs. | Quote: | | | | Former President Donald Trump's legal team is in direct communication with Justice Department officials, the first sign of talks between the two sides as the criminal probe into January 6, 2021, accelerates, sources familiar with the matter tell CNN.
The talks revolve around whether Trump would be able to shield conversations he had while he was president from federal investigators. | | | | | Looks like the net is closing but it would still be a very big step to indict a former president.
