Now it seems girls won't be able to blame the transgender women for poor results.

Even if (I think) I am in favour of separate competitions, I never understood why some folks here believe that once a "male" has entered a competition all is doomed, girls don't stand a chance.

Btw, many if not all relevant women tennis players train with males these days.
Training isn't the same as competing. Male to female transgender people have bone/muscle mass advantages etc.

Indeed. Fabulous player and an outspoken sports person. Would really like to hear her opinion on this (and other things too) and of course, other opinions from sportswomen/champions like her.
Navratilova is biologically female.

One of the most appalling things about the Trans participation in women's sport debate is the level of hate that gets hurled at women who speak out on the subject. "TERF" is such an atrocious and regressive insult. It's also odd how (as a generalization) many men just look on the current Trans debate with bemusement, but it's women who have to fight their corner as they're the ones impacted the most by it.
Exactly this.

As someone who has no issues with treating transgender people with respect, with pronouns of their choosing, who doesn't mind what bathroom they use, I still think the idea you can go through puberty as a male and compete in women's professional sports bizarre. E.g. in basketball - the extra 5 or 6 inches gained as a result of male puberty is clearly a huge, huge advantage.
And this.

Maybe women should come out more when it comes to pushing back that toxic ideology called feminism, rather than look on with bemusement or even welcome it. Maybe having gotten support there would motivate men to return the favor.

Which part of 'feminism" do you understand to be "toxic "?

They're transgender, not pedophiles!!!

However, toilets is very much a difficult subject. Does a trans women's right to feel more accepted/"normal" trump the right of a woman to feel safe when using the bathroom?

(Yes it does happen and isn't a myth)

https://www.scotsman.com/regions/edi...aigners-140883
However there are a lot of TW who are actually autogynophiles who enjoy "putting on a woman costume " often stereotypically with high heels, long hair, full makeup and weird bambi-stance that they themselves find sexy. Is the transgressiveness they like, the attempt to take from women.

They don't like being told "no".

Quote:

On balance, yes. How common are sex crimes involving a trans assailant? My guess is pretty rare. Those rare individuals with a history of sex crimes can always been blocked (unenforceable, but so is banning trans women in general from the toilets).
Not rare. Google. Also a worrying amount of male sex offenders who now "identify as female " housed in women's prisons. They then go on to attack more women.

Same in rape crisis centres. Rape victims called transphobic because they want a biological female to examine them. It's about transgression and coercive control.

Actually, archaeologist here, no, it is M, M?, I, F?, F. Even the skull and pelvis of mature adults can not always identify the physiological sex of the individual. For children and young adults that is especially true. Quite of lot of my work (specifically, biomolecular archaeologist) was comparing osteological sex and genetic sex. To do that we looked at the amelogenin gene, and if there was a contradiction (meaning a F, was XY, or a M was XX, we would look for the SRY gene (on Y-chromosome). For F?, I, M? individuals we were not that bothered if the genetic sex was different as the osteological sexing was not that secure anyway.
Even with that there are numerous, world-wide examples of archaeologists finding skeletons of one sex buried with grave goods associated with the other. Genetic testing of these individuals tends to confirm they are ‘trans’, i.e. XY individual who weaved, XX individual who fought.

Tldr;- not all skeletons can be sexed, even those which can occasionally have opposite genetic and physiological sexes, gender roles are not always linked to sex.
This. But some TW are arguing there is no such thing as biological sex whilst reinforcing (damaging) gender stereotypes. The stereotypes are the issue. IMO.

1) Religious upbringing
2) Cultural upbringing
3) Past experiences
4) Self-consciousness
5) Overwhelmed
6) Internal instinct

Teenagers suddenly become very reserved and shy about their naked bodies. For some, that desire to be private stays while others lose that shyness.

It's really about respecting someone's attitudes towards nudity. There isn't a right or a wrong and it isn't always about being disgusted. By the way, I know some men who would prefer not to see naked women as well. It's not a gender issue but a personal one.

Exactly.

To this list I would add

7) many women have experienced unwanted negative sexual advances. (Ive just realized my point 7 might be the same as Olygirls number 3)

There are stats out there to support this and are very high. Very quickly some blame can be attributed to the women (even by ourselves) how we are dressed (or not dressed in the case of this question), if we have been drinking, if we flirted etc. etc. So being naked could certainly be something we would be wary of. I was 12 years old when a man came up to me in a shopping center and made a lewd comment about my nipples. Idiot me thought he was asking for directions and asked him to repeat himself. I was horrified when I realized what he was saying and for a long time I thought it was the t-shirt that was to blame, or me (I wasnt in bras yet). My experience isnt weird, or that horrific (I would be fine dealing with a comment like that now but as a child it was terrifying). Since then Ive definitely had 2 or 3 experiences I would rather not have had, everytime you would wonder how much of is it "your fault" its a bit personal but that is the truth. Ive male friends, male family, I know lots of great great men. I think if you ask many women they would have stories similiar to these and therefore would be wary of being naked in front of a naked man you dont know in a dark sauna potentially on their own.
Yep. And males who have never had a lifetime of this simply do not understand. Just because they themselves may not behave this way. Refusing to acknowledge the issue is an issue itself.

TW - stands for Trans World. It's defunct now but was an airline that solely catered for trans-people as they not deemed fit to fly with 'normal' people.

Thankfully the world has moved on from then (although some of the people on this thread unfortunately haven't).

Funny!
TWA was an airline for trans people

On top of that why should we be so grateful that TWA is no longer around?

Re: Men are simply better at everything?

Janice Turner wrote in the Times about Samoa last Saturday, in the context of Hubbard.

Quote:
Samoa has a name for boys who prefer “feminine” clothing, games and roles: “fa’afafine”, meaning “in the manner of a woman”. Allotted traditionally female crafts and household duties, this “third gender” was revered for combining nurture with physical strength. In modern Samoa, there’s no stigma if your son is a fa’afafine: they are warmly accepted, even celebrated.

A fa’afafine, Jaiyah Saelua, was the first transgender footballer to play in a World Cup qualifying game. She was centre back for the American Samoan national team: the men’s team. Samoans understand that changing gender does not affect a person’s immutable biological sex.

...

Feagaiga Stowers (born female, still female), just 20, a child sexual abuse survivor who started lifting while living in a domestic violence shelter, won gold at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. She looked a cert for the 2019 Pacific Games too, but instead the podium was topped by 41-year-old trans woman Laurel Hubbard.
There's no Samoan 87kg+ weight lifting team this Olympics. Offically due to Covid, but speculation is that it's a protest.

Quote:
Samoa shows another way. Embrace gender expression but don’t override sex. Instead of insisting women budge up and lose out, why not make male sports an open category? Insist men “be kind” for once. The outgoing Samoan sports minister Loau Keneti Sio, reflecting on Hubbard, said that maybe Samoa should start entering fa’afafines in female events: “I’m certain we will win all the medals”. No, that’s not the way — the IOC should think more like Samoa

At the saunas we go to, the men vastly outnumber the women. I've seen plenty of men on their own there, but only a few women from time to time. So yes, I'm sure uncomfortableness comes into it, but also being vastly outnumbered can't help - even if everyone had their bits covered.

I can't even remember the context to what my comment was written! The main issue of the trans debate though is that it is largely incompatible with 20th century feminist views, which is why feminists and trans activists find themselves so at odds at the moment.

I disagree with the part about not minding which bathrooms transgender people use. Shouldn't be around children.
Just an update, the transgender who was exposing his penis to women at the Wi Spa (link above) has now had charges filed against them for indecent exposure. Oh, and they're a registered sex offender with prior convictions and also facing felony charges of indecent exposure over a separate incident.

Boy, who could ever have seen that coming?

"that a person who identified as female exposed their penis at the Wi Spa in Los Angeles. "

"The incident led to months of sometimes violent protests, with media outlets declaring it an example of bias against the transgendered, or even that it didn’t happen. Slate said it was a “transphobic hoax.”

"four women and a minor girl came forward to allege that Darren Agee Merager was partially erect in the women’s section of Wi Spa. "

"The Wi Spa came under fire in June after letting a person who identified as female walk around with male genitalia."

In Four paragraphs you've got the 2020-ties explained

Re: Men are simply better at everything?

Hmm as time passes by... one thing is becoming more and more obvious

as in that great great song from Robbie Williams "all the handsome men are gay" this can be extended to the non handsome in case they do a new version of that song

I remember how it was said "all women are sort of gay" ...mainly because of those stupid 70ties erotic films.. and the fact they often kiss when they greet each other..But now thanks to tinder and such apps.. it's unbelievable the precentage of men who say they're bi-sexual something like 7 out of 10 ...

Up until recently they had to hide this but now that there is no need to hide such information... we see something that would've been considered an insuation, a conspiracy theory against masculinity, who knows what ....
