Re: All about Trump and 2024

I doubt Trump will pick a fight with Murdoch but one never knows with him.

News Corp Executive Chairman Rupert Murdoch said today former President Trump is preventing conservatives from moving the nation's political debate forward with a focus "on the past."

"It is crucial that conservatives play an active, forceful role in that debate, but that will not happen if President Trump stays focused on the past,” Murdoch said.

Re: All about Trump and 2024

Sean Parnell emerged as the likely frontrunner in the Pennsylvania Senate primary after winning the endorsement of former President Donald Trump, much to the dismay of establishment republicans due to Sean's troubled past.

Sean has now dropped his campaign "to concentrate on his children"; custody of his children was awarded to his wife today after a very messy divorce where she accused him of abuse.

Likely other Trump-endorsed candidates will have issues due to Trump's approach of picking candidates on gut feelings without full due diligence.

Re: All about Trump and 2024

“Personally, I'd prefer endorsements from people who didn’t lose Maryland by 33 points,” Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan (R) Hogan wrote on Twitter yesterday after Trump announced that he was endorsing Maryland state Del. Daniel Cox (R) for governor in next year’s GOP primary. Hogan, is barred from running for reelection due to term limits.

Colorado lawyers Gary D. Fielder and Ernest John Walker were ordered by federal judge Neureiter to pay nearly $187,000 after filing lawsuits last year challenging the results of the 2020 presidential election. They alleged that there was a plan organized by voting machine vendor Dominion Voting Systems, government officials in four states and Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg and his wife to steal the election from former President Trump. Magistrate Judge N. Reid Neureiter dismissed the case in August and ruled that both attorneys had violated their ethical obligations.

The Republican National Committee (RNC) is reportedly paying some of former President Trump’s personal legal bills, the payments last month reportedly totaled $121,670. The Democratic National Committee (DNC) spokesperson Adonna Biel said the RNC is now “a party that will do anything for a divisive and incompetent ex-president who cost their party the House, Senate, and White House and thousands of Americans their lives and livelihoods.”

Re: All about Trump and 2024

A federal judge is ordering the Department of Justice (DOJ) to release four redacted pages of the Mueller report that detail who the special counsel declined to charge in his probe into Trump campaign ties to Russia.

The U.S. Court of Appeals for the D.C. Circuit sided with BuzzFeed News in the case, directing a lower court to force the DOJ to unredact the pages, revealing both the names of high-level Trump campaign aides and the rationale for not charging them.

Stuart Stevens is a smart man. Well, it took him decades to find out that the GOP is a bunch of pseudo-conservatives, but hey, he is not alone there.

Watch the clip. And too keep the discussion going, name one prominent GOP rep who is a credible, democratic, fact-based conservative.

Going out on a limb perhaps, but Liz Cheney (R-WY) comes to mind as a rare conservative with at least some integrity and she is getting steamrolled for it.

Yes, or Mitt Romney. I should have written "influential" instead of "prominent".

Liz Cheney is admirable on her democratic principles. Remarkable spine for someone with that dick of a father

Re: All about Trump and 2024

Another Federal judge in Michigan today ordered a group of pro-Trump lawyers who sued to block President Biden’s 2020 electoral win in Michigan to pay $175,000 in sanctions, this follows a similar decision in Colorado.

The nine sanctioned attorneys, were ordered to divide the costs equally.
The group of nine included Sidney Powell and Lin Wood, two of the more prominent promoters of Trump’s false claims about the 2020 election results being tainted by voter fraud and irregularities.

It is unbelievable that while the US courts are demonstrating with lawyer sanctions that Trump's claims of 2020 election fraud have no evidential base the only way GOP politicians can be successful is to vocally and publicly support those same lies.

Re: All about Trump and 2024

“McConnell just folded on the Debt Ceiling, a total victory for the Democrats,” Trump said late yesterday in an email message. “The Old Crow is a disaster!” the former president added, using his favorite derisive nickname for McConnell.

Nevertheless, the Senate voted today to advance a bill to create a fast-track process allowing Democrats to raise the federal debt limit without votes from Republicans, a crucial next step as lawmakers race the clock to avert a catastrophic debt default. The vote tally was 64 to 36 and 14 Senate Republicans crossed the aisle to vote with Democrats.

No doubt the ex-President will be very sour about this, pass the popcorn.

I am certainly not a fan. But just imagine a House Speaker Jim Jordan (or Fat Donny himself) and a Senate Majority Leader Josh Hawley.

Re: All about Trump and 2024

Trump seems to have a get out trouble golden spoon.
Mark Meadows, former President Donald Trump's fourth chief of staff, claimed in his new book that Trump tested positive for Covid days before his debate with Biden.

In the following days, Trump spent all his time in a room with Hope Hicks, Bill Stepien, Kellyanne Conway, Chris Christie, and Stephen Miller rehearsing his debate with Biden. Soon after they all fell sick with Covid, no doubt just a coincidence.

Re: All about Trump and 2024

In an interview with Donald Trump earlier this week, conservative talk radio host Hugh Hewitt said, "You know, Mr. President, you and I disagree about the election, but we agree on so much"

This statement has been compared with "other-than-that-how-was-the-play-Mrs. Lincoln".

In refusing to accept the result of the 2020 election and repeatedly (and falsely) alleging voter fraud, Trump is actively working against everything that made America the world-leading democracy and turning it into a 3rd world banana republic.

Trump Sues New York A.G. in Attempt to Stop Inquiry Into His Business https://nyti.ms/3J5VB9t
Most pundits were claiming that Trump would not be personally investigated by the NY AG but today;
Quote:
The New York attorney general's office has reportedly subpoenaed former President Trump and two of his children, Ivanka Trump and Donald Trump, Jr., as part of a civil probe into the Trump Organization's business practices.

Attorney General Letitia James's (D) office said the subpoenas were issued “in connection with an investigation into the valuation of properties owned or controlled,” according to The Associated Press.

ABC News reported that Ivanka and Donald Jr. are refusing to comply with the subpoenas. “A dispute has arisen between the OAG and the Individual Trump Parties regarding the Subpoenas,” said a court document filed Monday.

Eric Trump, who served as an executive vice president at the company, has already been subpoenaed and provided his testimony late last year, CNN also noted.
It was smart of Eric to get his version of the story in first; maybe he has done a side deal

Re: All about Trump and 2024

Increasing signs in extreme alt-right media of criticisms of Trump as being too tame and old.

This first started when in their eyes he failed to pardon the Jan 6 rioters as expected.

He is also blamed for not passionately supporting QAnon conspiracy theories and failing to defend organisations like Proud Boys, the Oath Keepers and the Three Percenters.

His growing support of vaccinations is also not popular although presumably his approach is based on research that shows three times as many voters died from covid in counties that voted for Trump versus those for Biden.

For many, the last straw was his yesterday's cancellation of his planned Jan 6 press conference which was billed to be red blooded support of his election fraud lies and of his supporters on the day.

The risk is that if Trump fades then some new super-Trump politician will emerge and win the right wing voters.

Bingo, but only half the risk. De Santis for example would be such a candidate.

More worrying is the infiltration of right wing extremists into local and state authorities, election and school boards. These clowns will give bottom up legitimacy to fraud claims and conspiracy theories.
