There have been 2 million apprehensions at the border in the past year, this is a crisis. This discussion should actually be moved to the Joe Biden thread as it's a crisis that is happening under his Presidency.
And how is it Biden's fault? (Or dare say even Trump's?)

For those saying this is "Biden's America" and that he believes in open borders, there were more controls and stops this year than ever recorded before.

I didn't say it was President Biden's fault, only that it's an ongoing crisis that is taking place under his Presidency. I don't see really how this is related to the former President.

maybe not the ideal thread but anyway:

DeSantis sent two bus loads of illegal immigrants to 'sanctuary city' Martha's Vineyard need more of this!
https://www.reuters.com/world/us/imm...it-2022-09-15/
Actually, DeSantis did not, if you read your link it does not say they're illegal.

Transporting illegal immigrants in the US is a crime; US Immigration and Nationality Act (I.N.A.), at Section 274(a)(1)(A)(ii).

What DeSantis and Abbot are doing is transporting asylum seekers who have had their request for asylum accepted so are legally free to stay and travel around the US until their case is heard and decided.

Newspapers have interviewed some of these and most of them saw it as a great opportunity to have a free trip to visit friends or relatives.

Spending taxpayer's money shipping around legal immigrants seems a bit pointless.

Both DeSantis and Abbot are positioning this as transporting illegal immigrants which is a typical right-wing lie.

Most people posting on this topic seem to have fallen for this deception.

Appears as if the DOJ went into full Hail Mary mode this week, desperately trying to get their hands on phone so of anyone remotely related to Donald Trump. Looking rather desperate. Assuming the House changes hands in November, how long do we give it before President Biden is impeached for abuse of power?
"trying to get their hands on phone so of anyone" What?

That crisis was also taking place under Trump's presidency (Trump did not reduce the number of illegal immigrants in the US or entering the US*). So if this ongoing crisis is not a President's fault or related to the Presidency, it probably doesn't belong in the Biden thread either.

But what's most sad and most pathetic is that these Republican governors are dehumanizing these people and treating them like pawns in order to try to further their own political agendas. I guess it's easy for some people to forget that these people are not simply illegal immigrants. They're human beings.

After all the reactionary fact-free Biden-worshipping main stream media, it's very reassuring to read something so well balanced and evidence-based. A rare piece of seriously researched journalism.

Sounds totally believable. Honest.

How exactly is that "dumping" illegal immigrants? The article in your link states the following:

"Indiana Sen. Todd Young told Secrets that there has been a 45% surge in children that entered the United States unaccompanied by an adult being sent to the Hoosier State. In one case, 19 were sent to Iowa and then put on a bus to other cities, including Fort Wayne, Indiana, to meet up with guardians."

These were children (minors) who were being sent to meet up with guardians because they were in the US without their parents and otherwise unaccompanied by an adult.

So the people that the Texas governor has been busing to NYC, etc. are actually legal immigrants? (Not sure if that's what you meant ).

Exactly, transporting illegal immigrants is a federal crime, I quoted the federal law earlier.
These are people whose applications for asylum have been accepted so are here legally.

Republican presidential hopeful treats token group of immigrants like dumped cattle.
Residents of sanctuary city with zero notice of the arrivals rally round to process them, set up refreshments table, have a kickabout with a ball and generally look calm and welcoming.

Not sure that's the gotcha DeSantis was going for.

So, to sum up, a politician does a publicity stunt which involves bringing a large group of people to a small town to live with zero notice to the community then proclaims it a victory when it doesn’t work out? You see where this went wrong, don’t you?

The Georgia prosecutor investigating attempts by former President Trump and his allies to challenge President Biden’s victory in the state in 2020 said she expects prison sentences for those convicted of crimes related to the investigation.

I think the main difference between President Trump and President Biden is that whilst neither man is to blame for migrants turning up at the souther border, President Trump recognized this as an issue that needed addressing.

He had a plan "Build the Wall!", whether or not one thinks this would solve this issue is another matter, however at least he was willing to address it, and this is what voters see.

The situation at the border is now much worse under President Biden, and as far as I can see, there is no plan as to what to do about the ongoing crisis.

This is why from a purely political perspective this was a very astute move from Governor DeSantis. It both draws attention to the crisis at the border and plants the seed of NIMBY hypocrisy of coastal Democrat voters.

Spectacularly backfired and made DeSantis look like a petty little opportunist, though, didn’t it? Still, probably gives the hard-of-thinking something to cheer about.
