| | Re: All about Trump and 2024 | Quote: | | | | | No, the problem is your self-contradiction and inability to 'own' your words.
It's clearly pointless to even attempt to engage in a rational conversation with you, because you say something and then later try to deny it and try to flip the narrative on it and say that the problem is someone else rather than yourself.
So perhaps I should be more direct: Do you condone DeSantis sending the immigrants to Martha's Vineyard? Because in your two posts below, you have praised and condoned it and then later denied that you condoned it. | | | | | This seems to be a reflection of modern politics. Make all the right noises about an issue which gets the base frothing but when confronted with a drilling on the intended meaning there is major deflection. It doesn’t matter; the base gets the message and the messenger gets the right to be indignant that “they didn’t say/intend/agree…” with what you basically replay back to them.
Trump and his Capitol debacle is a good example of this. Give out a strong message to your base then row back on a raft of semantics and ambiguity when it comes back to bite.

Been going on for years.
As a very relaxed Catholic I’m appalled that both these clowns are “practicing”….guess they need a lot better practice.

If I was the Dems I would take more advantage of this.
I would keep the publicity going by starting crowdfunding to fund bringing back to their Florida homes "these poor duped migrants who have been abandoned thousands of miles from their homes with no money and no ticket back home".
I would also try to slip some real illegal immigrants onto the buses so these human traffickers would be arrested and locked up.

Maybe someone needs to tell Abbott and DeSantis that they're boarding a private plane to go to a GOP convention in Idaho and then drop them off in the middle of the Alaskan wilderness.
------
In today's headlines... Texas Gov. Abbott sends 50 migrants to VP Harris' home
Abbott also sent two buses of migrants to her residence on Thursday. https://abcnews.go.com/Politics/texa...ry?id=90070912
"It's un-American, it's reckless and we have a process in place to manage migrants at the border," [Biden] said at a gala for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. "We're working on making sure it's safe and orderly and humane. Republican officials should not interfere with that process by waging these political stunts."
DeSantis on Friday also said more drop-offs were coming.
"I have $12 million for us to use and so we are going to use it and you're gonna see more and more. I'm going to make sure that we exhaust all those funds," he said at a press conference."
-----
So rather than putting that 12 million to good use, they use it to pull a publicity stunt. And all so they can be viewed as some kind of heroes in the eyes of their supporters who clearly share their lack of a moral conscience.
Just how much uglier is it going to get? I guess some people have no standards when it comes to just how low they're willing to sink.

Hmmm, wonder if this stands a chance of working | Quote: | | | | Lawyers for Civil Rights (representing more than 30 migrants flown to Martha’s Vineyard last week) sent letters to the U.S. attorney for Massachusetts and the state’s attorney general alleging the flights, organized by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), deprived the migrants’ liberty through deception, arguing they boarded the planes and cross state lines under false pretenses.
"We believe that criminal laws were broken by the perpetrators of this stunt,” both letters state. “We, therefore, ask that you open a criminal investigation into this matter.” | | | | | Pass the popcorn.

Spending public money to "deport" these migrants is not a bad investment. It is not as if they are able to pay for their own food, shelter, utillities, healthcare, education, or for an increased police force.
Most of these costs are borne by the state. Spending a couple of grand per person to put them on a bus and make it someone else's problem will probably have a quick payback time.

By dumping on your fellow GOPers. | Quote: | | | | Republican politicians in Georgia, Tennessee and North Carolina are complaining many migrants take advantage of rest stops to disembark in red states en route to sanctuary cities.
“If Texas is going to put people on buses, they need to make sure that these individuals are going to their destinations,” said Georgia state Rep. Mike Cameron, a Republican who protested bus stops in Dade County, Georgia. “I understand Texas’ problem but don’t just put people on a bus and let them get off anywhere.
That’s not a solution.” | | | | | More popcorn needed....
Edit: Why "couple of grand"? Greyhound fares are a couple of hundred.
No doubt some friends of bureaucrats have their noses in this trough.

i don't believe this sex predator or any other immigrant should be allowed to enter the US or any other country illegally - if other people disagree and don't believe in border controls then they should be willing to accept them into their own communities. but as we've seen here some people advocate for policies they never have to suffer the consequences of - and once they do, it ends quickly.

For whatever polls are worth; a new NBC News poll released Sunday found that 34 percent of registered voters said they have a positive view of Trump while 45 percent said they approve of the president.

| | | | | Your reading comprehension is abysmal. I said from a POLITICAL PERSPECTIVE it's a savvy move from Governor DeSantis. That is neither condoning it nor condemning it. Just an opinion on how this move aids the Governor in achieving his political goals.
For my opinion on the migrants, whatever that's worth, from their perspective I think having a ticket for the plane trip to Martha's Vineyard is akin to having won a golden ticket to Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. Due to the media exposure it is almost certain that they will get a better time of it than whatever they could have hoped for on the southern border. Be it in a make shift camp in Mexico, or crammed like sardines in a detention center in Texas.
