I now finished reading the full study which states the group that has the lowest rates of reinfection is the one with both Covid preinfection and vaccination; that was before boosters were available so were not included in the study.
This is not the whole truth They compare the data from California and New York. Have you noticed that New York data doesn’t fit your conclusion?

„ During the week beginning May 30, 2021, compared with COVID-19 case rates among unvaccinated persons without a previous COVID-19 diagnosis, COVID-19 case rates were 19.9-fold (California) and 18.4-fold (New York) lower among vaccinated persons without a previous diagnosis; 7.2-fold (California) and 9.9-fold lower (New York) among unvaccinated persons with a previous COVID-19 diagnosis; and 9.6-fold (California) and 8.5-fold lower (New York) among vaccinated persons with a previous COVID-19 diagnosis.“

So Shapovalov is presumably infected by Nadal - during their exhibition in Abu Dhabi. What did he do afterwards? Did he isolate after learning that a close contact was positive? How did he arrive to Australia if he was in isolation?

Now I have also read the study and was really excited to see their plots. Boosters for some people were included in the study. The rates of previously recovered vaccinated vs recovered non-vaccinated are literally non distinguishable on the plot, this is exactly what I mean — if you are recovered, further vaccination makes little difference. Vaccination without previous infection is way off.

And just to put another piece into the picture — hospitalizations of vaccinated recovered vs non-vaccinated recovered vs vaccinated non-infected. This is really cool data

Another player reveals to be tested positive on arrival to Australia: Sebastian Korda

With Omicron spreading like fire, it is impossible to stop it, and Djokovic of course has nothing to do with it. With this spread, the Covid measures in Australia seem completely redundant.

I know! I am looking at him and saying please please please miss

But seriously, he missed most of the previous season, and this is not his best surface, but he looks great. If he makes it to the final, I will be rooting for him to take the trophy, this will be absolutely deserved. Novak will catch up after the pandemic

I know, very disappointing… I was watching his preess conference, he said that the whole of AO wasn’t going that well for him. He had a good season last year, hopefully will recover by the RG.

Re: Novak Djokovic Australian open exemption.

From 20min:

Unvaccinated Djokovic likely to be allowed to compete at French Open

Apparently, France has clarified its rules for sporting events: Now it is enough if athletes are vaccinated OR recovered. This means that Djokovic should be allowed to take part in Roland Garros.

But Tennis Australia doesn’t make the rules And the rules are changing so much, it is not so easy to follow them.

Lets try to follow the French Open rules within just one last week:
- he can play
- the new law arrives, he cannot play
- clarification of the new law arrives, he can play

I cannot wait to see the next piece.

This „Rules are Rules“ saga is such a joke.
