Re: The United Kingdom Prime Minister Monthly Rota Thread

A friend just posted this:

''Ah bless, he stood aside, even though he knew he would have won, in the national interest . He will now devote himself to serving the constituents of Uxbridge for which he is paid a publicly funded salary. Such a noble and honourable gentleman.''

how noble and wonderful warms the cockles!

Re: The United Kingdom Prime Minister Monthly Rota Thread

All publicity in the wake of the publication of a book he is writing- and lots of money.

In the meantime, here is the analysis from a friend, and I think she is not far wrong!

''I suspect Boris is playing the electorate again. Good bloke came back to try and lead the country again, stepped down for party unity. Got us through covid and Brexit but didn't get the credit. Just because he's a bit of a lad.

Not my view but I can imagine in 2 years time his halo will be polished up and ready for a GE. Meantime Sunak can try and sort out the economy and take the blame.
It might not be 2 years it might be 7 years. With a brief spell of Labour in power. But I fear he will be back .''

Nah, he was the golden boy in the brief period before he became PM but he's burnt his bridges with most of his own MPs and most of the electorate. The country has moved on. They don't need shiny trinkets and a flag-waving PM dangling from a zip wire or popping up at factories in hi-viz. Them days are gone.

We can but hope!

If being concerned about this charlatan, and his devastating effect on the country, either makes one 'OCD' as per 2 red blob + message, or in need of mental therapy, I can assure you this applies to the vast majority of people in the UK, and even in the Tory Party and his own MPs.

Hey guys if you don't like, or don't agree with what she is saying say so, or ignore her. Keep the insults to the schoolground please.

You can also ignore the entire thread if you choose.

Re: The big boris johnson thread. Everything about boris goes here.

I've just read a joke that goes like this:
What can you see in London? In the morning you can see changing of the guard, in the afternoon changing of prime-ministers.

I thought it was funny..

Re: Boris Johnson explained for our American friends

Very strange that the 'everything about Boris' threads have been closed.

Johnson is still very much active in the UK and seems like he is planning a return, with his mates from ERG. In the meantime, without any mandate at all, and instead of doing his job in the House and in his Constituency, he is meddling in Ukraine. Again, visiting without any mandate from the UK Governement, then saying on TV that Putin has threatened him with a nuclear strike, and now saying the Ukraine should join the European Union and NATO as soon as possible.

Does he need a mandate to go there?

Do you say the same about Pop stars or actors who speak out on world issues with being asked to?

Zelensky has got a lot of time for him and to be honest, the Ukranians could do with as much support as they can get.

Іди Boris!

He needs a mandate if he is prentending to be an official UK representative on UK diplomatic business, and all the world's TV news. And if his behaviour of words puts everyone at risk, including when he says he was threatened by Putin, saying he would nuke him. I know there are more precise and tactical nuclear weapons now- but if Putin did want to nuke Johnson, a few more people might be colleteral damage, perhaps?

Not sure he said that.

He has the Prime Minister's backing:

Quote:
Current UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was said to be "supportive" of Mr Johnson's visit.

Mr Sunak is "always supportive of all colleagues showing that the UK is behind Ukraine and will continue to support them," his press secretary said.

From the BBC.

Re: The big boris johnson thread. Everything about boris goes here.

BoJo was a total cock when he had any kind of serious role which carried a mandate and strict official structure. He was a terrible foreign minister and an even worse PM. He looked like the token bumbling clown in these summits with other leaders.

However, he does seem to shine when he's got free rein to go out and press the flesh and schmooze people.

I wouldn't trust him as far as I could throw him for domestic or foreign affairs or procedural policy but he's a special fit when it comes to those grey areas of reaching past officialdom.

That is the job of the Foreing Secretary, and it is not up to Sunak to decide. Johnson shooting his mouth off, and saying Putin threatened to nuke him, he dangerous nonsense.
