The big boris johnson thread. Everything about boris goes here.

Mod Edit.

I can’t take the credit for the original idea but we thought it would be a good idea to have just ONE thread dedicated to all things Boris Johnson.
Along the same lines as the Trump thread.

This thread is for all things Boris Johnson related whether that be his politics, his private life, his relations with the Russians, he decides to ride naked on horseback through Coventry clutching a life sized replica of the Taj Mahal etc etc.

If it relates to Boris Johnson this is the place for it. .

Starmer on great form, and many others too. Including several on his own side, like David Davis 'for the love of God, Man, GO!'

Ian Blackford of SNP -Operation save Big Dog as turned into a big dog's dinner'.

Johnson getting a hammering in PMQT
I read that as "getting hammered".

So another party in Downing Street then!

IMHO Mr. Johnson is not going to resign. No way, no how, ain’t going to happen.

Let’s wait and see if Conservative members have enough balls* to send a letter. Those at risk of losing their recently gained seats should think long and hard about if it’s better to write their letters now, or wait ‘till an election is looming.

*Figuratively as not all of them have them. (Is there gender-neutral alternative term?)

Re: Johnson getting a hammering in PMQT

It's so intrinsic to Johnson that it's almost part of his trademark - getting away with blatant stuff by bluster and charm (yes I mean charm).

The only way he'd go is if all his supporters told him to. And the only way that would happen is if there's someone ready to take the position who has enough party support.

So despite what should or what would have been enough for a new leader in previous times, it's not looking likely. I'd be happy to be wrong about that.

(If nothing else, it's generated some great comedic commentary)

One of those Conservatives crossed the floor and join the red bench today. Always find it odd when they do that, does it mean they never believed what they told their voters?

I can assure you that people in the UK, of all sides and none- are not bored at all at the moment.

They were certainly not bored in the House of Commons today- and his own side was just as brutal. Probably the highest ratings in a very long time for those watching in direct from their computers

I never like people crossing the floor (either way). If they don't like what their party is doing and that another party would serve their constituents better, they should resign and have a by-election (probably with the opposing party's original first choice for the seat).

Re: Johnson getting a hammering in PMQT

Ahh the weekly Tory/BJ bashing thread. Looks like my Swiss watch is still keeping good time.

We get that you hate the Tories and BJ. I'd expect no less - has there ever been a teacher who hasn't? You're Swiss, you live in Switzerland again. Get over it.

For the record I think all UK politicians are of the same ilk, regardless of the colour of their rosette.

Re: Johnson getting a hammering in PMQT

I happen to be British and still have the right to vote in the UK, and have all my family there + spend a significant proportion of my time there. So yes, my family and friends are very interested, and so am I. The number of people tuning it to PMQT today was huge.

I mentionned Johnson on 13th of Jan, and previously 19.10 and 27.09. Weekly?

Re: Johnson getting a hammering in PMQT

Oh I think this isn't about disliking a party. Not right now. The number of people in his own party criticising this particular behaviour shows that. And it isn't just about integrity and telling the truth (it so happens that Bojo stands out for having problems with that but's always grinned his way out of it). No, it's the audacious personal attitude when getting the cops in to enforce pretty extreme measures to the nation. The people who were cut off from loved ones in difficult situations and/or needed support, the vulnerable people in society - they'll be the ones most upset about it. Regardless of party politics, during a pandemic like this you need a good, strong leader you can rely on and trust. That is the issue.

If those things don't affect you or bother you - or even interest you, then you're lucky. But it is significant.

Indeedy. The imagination of so many, be it cartoonists, spoof makers, poetry, songs and so much more, has been amazing. British SOH at its best.

This one is fabulous

eyebeebe- in my long teaching career, I have worked with plenty of amazing teachers who were Tories, Greens, Lib Dems, Labour and none. So your sweeping statements make no sense.

That was a President not a Prime Minister!

Newsthump thinks on the same level ''Boris Johnson untroubled by MP’s defection as he’d always assumed ‘Bury South’ was a euphemism for sex''
