It's also interesting how Schnappi returned to this thread days ago and never made any comment on the ironic posts about which he now seems so righteously wrathful.

Perhaps our resident billy-goat eater is feeling a little bored this evening, and is looking for some more fun-by-flaming?
Don't worry about me. My trusty friend "Dougal" is always ready to fetch the stick LOL

Cheers, duck!

I must admit that I do get a certain degree of easy pleasure out of annoying our resident moron. It's like lazily swatting at bluebottles on a sticky Sunday afternoon. Not the most exciting way to spend an evening, but diverting, nonetheless.

Oh, I don't know. You can twist and wriggle with the best of them, from what I've seen on other threads...

Indeed. Better than getting all stressed about George Bush and then, er, doing absolutely nothing of any practical use about it whatsoever...

Wouldn't the London 2012 Paralympics be against Labour's inclusion policies...?

Re: Paralympics

Great work Heath Francis! Good to hear about it. Our eyes are on Heat 2 Lane 7 in the 100m tomorrow.
Please also keep your fingers crossed for 'my'swimmer. She has her 50m Freestyle tomorrow. She was fourth in the 100m Freestyle and was probably very disappointed as she held the World Record before. She is blind and caught her hand on the lane-rope which always slows one down horribly. Hopefully she be OK tomorrow.

Re: Paralympics

I'd like to take this opportunity to apologise to the forum for helping drag this thread off-topic earlier this evening.

I have tried to avoid flame wars since joining the EF last year, and, until the last week or so, have managed pretty much to do so.

Unfortunately, a combination of temptation, procrastination and, today, a dodgy gut, have lured me into pleasures which, while being fun for the direct participants, are nothing but a pain in the arse for other observers.

For this I apologise without reservation. I shall put Xapadoo on my ignore list, and shall endeavour to avoid getting into pointless and fruitless exchanges which risk dragging this excellent forum down to the level at which many other internet forums (in my experience) languish.

Sorry about that.

You may continue about your business...

In my opinion, the apology isn't needed, don't beat yourself needlessly. Have a nice evening.

Cheers

Re: Paralympics

So, Heath Francis got into the Final of the 100m to be held tomorrow (Monday). Crossing our fingers for him then. Unfortunately Chantal was fourth again this morning in the 50m Freestyle. I DO feel sorry for her. She has worked so hard. Mind you, so have loads of other folk, but two fourth places is a bit bitter.

Re: Paralympics

A shame about Chantal, but then fourth is still better than almost all of the rest of the world. A great effort in anyone's book.

Tomorrow is a busy day for Heath: finals in the 100m and 4x100m. Let's see if he can top his performance in Sydney...

Re: Paralympics

You are right about Chantal of course, but she had certainly hoped for a bit more.
I see that Eleanor Simmons GB Class S6 (First post on this Thread) has done it again in the 400m Freestyle with a new World Record of 5:41.34. She beat the seventh placed swimmer by 33.97"! Compared with Olympics 400m FS 4:03.22 (Rebecca Adlington GB) and a seventh place of 1.83" slower.
Interesting to hear the (very competent) German discussion on TV where it was said that the German swimmers are also losing ground against other countries. Only now are the Disabled Organisations there beginning to work with a professional coach and the 'normal`Swimming Asociation instead of having two separate bodies. We all live and learn.
So let's get ready for the races tomorrow... Heath - to your marks...

Re: Paralympics

Heath's done it again. Really brilliant. Gold in the 100m as well. Can you send him my congratulations too? Fantastic effort.
I wonder how the relay will go. Did you notice that the 'Start List' for this event had a Typo? It said 'Star List'. They might be right after all.
Keeping my eyes on the clock tomorrow...

Just for fun - a pic!

Re: Paralympics

The Aussie 4x100m T42-46 team scored bronze, while the US set a new world record.

So after 4 events, Heath leaves Beijing with 3 gold, 1 bronze, 3 personal bests, and 2 world records. A fantastic effort.

Re: Paralympics

I have totally missed out on all of the action. Whereas last month I was practically on holliday and could wear my eyes out watching, this month I work every days so I have missed the whole spectacle.
Dodger, tell Heath he's a hero! And that goes for Longbyts friend as well.
Thanks for keeping me up to date folks
