Jonathan Ross suspended from the BBC [and quits the BBC Jan 2010]
I hope the Beeb reverse this decision, Wossy is one of the best things they have and I would hate to see him dissapear off to Sky.
Brand and Ross suspended by BBC
Brand and Ross both have Saturday shows on Radio 2
Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand are to be suspended and all their shows taken off air until the BBC has investigated their prank calls made on Radio 2.
The news was announced in a statement by director general Mark Thompson.
Meanwhile, Georgina Baillie has told the Sun that Ross and Brand should be sacked over the calls made to her grandfather, actor Andrew Sachs. The prime minister had also criticised the pair for "inappropriate and unacceptable behaviour". Gordon Brown is expected to face questions from MPs over the affair in prime minister's questions. d it was funny and suitable for national radio. They've shown an appalling lack of judgement."
I, too, have enjoyed 'Wossy's' programmes both on radio and TV although I'm afraid I just don't get Russell Brand. However, I do feel that this time they have overstepped the mark and there should be some form of redress. Well done to the BBC for suspending them.

I would also like to see Andrew Sachs make a very public apology to the Spanish people (my father in law is Spanish)
It's all a bit ridiculous. The initial programme received 'a handful' of complaints, the media bangs on about it and 10,000 more are received from people who clearly weren't offended enough at the time to bother, if they actually even heard it.
The fact that both David Cameron and Gordon Brown felt the need to pass comment on this yesterday as opposed to the situation in Congo is depressing.

Ok I think it was way over the top but it's not like the daughter is a little angel Still not decent of Brand and Ross.
The prank was performed on a pre-recorded show, so if anything its the program controller that should be sacked for a serious lack of judgement and breach of broadcasting regulations.
And the fact that 18,000 people have complained to the beeb has more to do with a rolling bandwagon than anything else. Initially i.e. just after the show there were only a handful of complaints.

"I Rarely Rile people but Retarded Russell bRand and I are Really Remorseful for our Rubbish, Rotten, Rude, Randy Remarks made on Radio about AndRew's gRandaughter. We tRuly RegRet any Rage, Ridicule, woRRy and embaRRassment Received by AndRew"

In that case it's even more silly to suspend them. It's just media looking for next best thing to blow up out of proportion. Could someone post photos of the little angel grand daughter to give some context to the story
On "me getting offended scale" this gets a 1 out of 10. British soldiers getting wasted in Iraq, or innocent people getting killed gets 10 out of 10 on "me getting offended scale"
In light of Castro's post I think I am not offended at all if it was a pre-recorded show.

Click the link above bud, she's the Goth half way down the page.
Surely it's not about the granddaughter of Andrew Sachs, but the offence and distress caused TO Andrew Sachs, the person to whom the call was made? He is an elderly man and should not have been subjected to such a call.

I too was a big fan of Jonathan Ross, howvere Russle Brand really gets on my nerves.
But their actions however over this incided were truly malicious.
I dont think anyone should recieve that kind of "personal" phonecall, ESPECIALLY on air.
Its Just truly disrespectfull and i hope they are ashemed of themselves.

I am trying to understand better which angle is more offensive.....
- Offended because they made fun of him (directly or indirectly)?
- Offended because they were talking dirty about his angel grand daughter?
Ross and Brand are not funny, their sense of humour is that of teenage boys, but without the sophistication. Ross used to be entertaining, but now he just bores on by asking his guests inappropriate questions about their sex lives.
Brand is a novelty. He is not remotely funny and is long overdue a decent punch to the head. I wont miss either of them.

Sachs is a veteran of comedy who's made his name crudely stereotyping foreigners... if he doesn't have a sense of humour I don't know who does. And besides, when you receive a voicemail in a silly shrill voice you know its not going to be serious, its not like they were parading as coppers telling Sachs some seriously bad news.

Nevertheless, he is 78 years of age, and what gives these two cretins the right to leave a message on his answerphone, stating that one of them has had relations with his granddaughter?
Most people appreciate a good joke, a good wind up, but there was no humour in this and judging by the reactions of a lot of people, there is lot of support for the notion that Ross and Brand have overstepped the mark of human decency, and as such needed to be taken down a peg or three.
