I mean who the hell nominated him and on what grounds!
From a quick search on wikipedia, it seems the Nobel Peace prize is the least prestigious of all, and from this even it's gonna lose it's credibility...
But which contemprerary figure should this prize have been given to? They've all been pro war that last few years... | | | | | I guess he got the hi-score on the game
My vote would have gone to Aung San Suu Kyi.

I have to admit that Obama is a step up from Bush, but
did he deserve the Nobel peace prize? He did not in my opinion.
Much of the sh*t was inherited from Bush just remember that!
Obama is at least trying to be diplomatic.

I heard on the grapevine that he's planning a preemptive
attack against Taliban hiding on the moon

Why provoke Russia when you have Iran, North Korea, Afghanistan, Pakistan and Iraq to deal with (not including israel and palestine) | | | | |
Yeah, I do agree he has peace qualities and intentions. His speeches during his visit to the Middle East was a turn of direction. It's not so easy to turn such a massive country with a deeply rooted military-industrial complex. He is clearly getting heavy resistance back home. There are obvious splits between the White House and the Pentagon. Honduras is an example. Just the other day, a General popped off against White House policy to spin a Pentagon perspective
Folks, if you like peace, we are better off with Obama in the White House than a bonafide war-monger.

I think I'll like to see him actually deliver something more than spin.
So far, all I've seen is professional politician. Smacks of 1997, Blair
and Co. promising something different to Tory sleaze.
What did we get? Labour sleaze.

It can happen faster for him in internet age than the other guy.
After his 4/8 years he can form a World Union and become its first president?

Didn't he have that "beer summit" to bring together the black Harvard scholar and the white police officer?
And remember when he called Kanye West a "jackass" for insulting Taylor Swift at the MTV awards?
He's been peacemakin' all over the place.

Common misconceptions about the Nobel Peace Prize http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...bA-1gD9B7HDR80
_ Myth: The prize is awarded to recognize efforts for peace, human rights and democracy only after they have proven successful.
More often, the prize is awarded to encourage those who receive it to see the effort through, sometimes at critical moments.

Instead of turning down the prize, he should donate the money to US citizens who have lost their jobs and have no health Insurance, or some non profit org.

What's worse, this is surely fodder to further convince the right-wing nut jobs in America that Obama may, in fact, be the Anti-Christ.

I did not even imagine such a stupid choice.
I'm blacker than Obama, what do I get? | | | | | I didn't know race factors into who wins the award... Get a life, people. This is pure politics at it's best.

Well spoken Mr. Walesa! You are atleast different from the scores of world leaders, who I am sure will heap glowing encomiums on Obama.
