I thought the prizes were given
after
the recipient's meritorious deeds.
(Not that I can name a
pre
-award justification).

He has refrained from colonising both New Zealand and Argentina.

I voted for Barak Obama and plan to do so again next year. But it's ridiculous to award the Peace Prize to a man just for getting elected.
