I hope the Easter bottle kicking in our neighbouring village in England won't be affected by this. Spectators get injured every year, but I don't think there's been any deaths yet.

Ahaah, we lived near Hallaton too. Must say it is great fun but quite 'violent' at times.

It sounds like a cheese rolling event down Uetliberg would be perfect publicity stunt for the British Cheese Centre....just it would be a waste of a decent Double Gloucester.

Hmm...Double Gloucester...hmmm....cheese on toast...hmmm

Cheers,
Nick

Seriously,

That's a fantastic idea
I did think of organising one of these a couple of years ago, maybe now's the time to show PC Britain how it should be done...

If anyone wants to get involved, email me and we'll start talking, I couldn't cope with managing this on my own. We'll need a good hill (I'm sure we can find one of those in Switzerland) and some whole cheeses. No problem there then.

I reckon we could get a lot of press interest from the UK, and I'm sure the Rappi Bier factory would be interested in stocking the refreshment tent

Re: Cheese rolling cancelled!

Whilst getting a link for another thread, I noticed that Switzerland does have its own version of cheese rolling, at Engstligenalp. It's not quite up to the Gloucestershire standard though

Perhaps it could be a venue to show them how it should be done.

(Incidentally, this year's cheese rolling did go ahead despite rain and a ban )
