Happy Yorkshire Day

I'm sure I say this every year, but Happy Yorkshire Day.

It's good of the Swiss to support us like this. They have fireworks and beer and everything.

Yorkshire Day Celebration

Quote:
A 15-minute symphony involving more than 200 musicians will be broadcast later to celebrate Yorkshire Day.

Four BBC local radio stations will simultaneously air composer Benjamin Till's work which took five months to produce, at 1100 BST.

The lyrics were written by 98-year-old great grandmother Doreen Brigham, from Harrogate, who said she was "absolutely thrilled" to be chosen.

Re: Happy Yorkshire Day

Why is Yorkshire the only county (or rather collection of bits of counties) secure/special/arrogant/insecure/annoying (delete as appropriate) enough to have/need/want a special day for themselves?

BTW....in Wiki, I came across this.....

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Culture_of_Yorkshire

Isn't that an oxymoron?

Re: Happy Yorkshire Day

Well I was born and brought up in Yorkshire and I didn't even realise thee was a Yorkshire day. Obviously a bit too sophisticated for us country folks out in the sticks. Probably would've frightened the sheep.

Nil - just ignore the insecure Yorkshire folk and let them get on with their incestuous backslapping and telling each other about their tea and their correct usage of the names of garden implements......they'll be quiet and leave if we ignore them

Kids in Barnsley nightclubs grind up ecstasy tablets and mix the powder with vodka then rub it into their gums for an instant high.

It's called E by gum.

Lancashire has a day too!

Lancashire Day is held on 27 November. It commemorates the day in 1295 when Lancashire sent its first representatives to Parliament by King Edward I of England to attend what later became known as The Model Parliament.

Thrilling eh?
