When watching it, I saw that the Southbridge area was almost NON-hit. I don't know NZ at all and so do not know how that area looks like, BUT to re-build CHC in the Southbridge area might be an option ??

When you see the screen light up on Monday with all of the quakes its horrifiying.
I have a close friend living in Lyttelton and when I was watching this website even my 7 year old said "Aunty Lisa needs to move".
Southbridge, Leeston, Lincoln is all very flat and farming land. Guess it could be an option but what do you give the farmers in compensation for rebuilding Christchurch on their livelyhood? Very tough decision to be made.

No Sumner sea views, no Port hills to walk/drive up and over, the views over the Avon ( and the daily kayaking there for some of us) the funky old cafes...... I can imagine conversations in the future, with references being made to "Old Christchurch" and "New Christchurch." I also imagine friendships altering - those who have bonded together whilst living in the middle of it all, versus those of us who are just reading about it while we are away.....
Apparently this weeks shakeup broke my house a bit. I used to think that having a house was important, but right now I am thinking that just having a life is what really matters. Can't do much about it from Switzerland anyway. Aaah, c'est la vie.

Here's another clip I have just been watching - includes one ChCh exflatmate. http://www.3news.co.nz/On-the-ground...0/Default.aspx | The following 2 users would like to thank biff for this useful post:

Another "small" quake, this time a bit further north where they're more prevalent. | Quote: | | | | “[It was] nicer than a usual quake which feels more violent and is almost always noisy.”
I guess its all relativity...
"... i preferred that limb being removed, to that one.." News report.

“It was like a big, slow, single hoola-hoop role, type, motion," (from the article)
That almost sounds like a blast!

That almost sounds like a blast! | | | | | Naw Debs, mate - the "blast" is what you feel in one of those hik mining towns in Australia...
An earthquake is more like.. "..uUUu.. did the earth move for you too?"

What's going on in New Zealand?
It's like the whole continent (well..... relatively, it's a couple of small Islands) has rattled loose and is about to drift out to see.
When all this siesmic activity is finished, Kiwi's will all be walking around like they've been living on a small boat for a week.
