Re: Hastings Pier destroyed by fire

The pier has opened to the public today, although the official opening isn't until next month with Madness performing on the pier. Although the structure and decking is complete, a lot more money is needed to reinstate the buildings and landing stage. At least we have a sound pier to build on

Re: Hastings Pier destroyed by fire

It's all change since the pier reopened almost two years ago.

It won the RIBA Stirling Prize for Architecture 2017 .....

..... and went into administration just a few weeks later

http://hastingspier.org.uk/2017/11/2...dministration/

Now it is up for sale with 'all offers considered'

There is one possible buyer, the owner of the nearby Eastbourne Pier, 'Sheikh' Abid Gulzar. He has named Eastbourne Pier The Sheikh's
Pier. If he buys Hastings Pier, I guess it could be Sheikh's Pier's Sister

Re: Hastings Pier destroyed by fire

Probably would have been better to not rebuild it in the first place.
It seems strange that the charity wanted to resurrect it for the community but didn't think the community should support it financially.

Around 3000 shareholders from the local community have invested around 600,000

They don't appear to have maximised the income possibilities
