The Vatican goes HD

Vatican Television Centre (CTV) to broadcast in HD.

The move will cost up to "several million euros", said Vatican spokesman Federico Lombardi, adding that the decision to go HD was "obligatory" in light of requests from television channels for increasingly high quality images.

CTV was set up in 1983 under pope John Paul II. It transmits an average of 200 live broadcasts a year, ranging from grand ceremonies in St. Peter's Square and Basilica, to papal trips within Italy and abroad.

Re: The Vatican goes HD

Once again the Church let's people continue to suffer hunger and poverty whilst wasting money on rubbish. What's TV got to do with the preaching of those things in which these people apparently believe but don't live up to. The Pope, as with all other speaders of the Word, should be on his knees washing people's feet and living like birds in the field.

Too harsh - not really, they just don't practice what they preach (in their funny clothes and red hats).
