Depends on where you are coming from. Here matching cities
Dallas > Zurich
Houston > Geneva
San Antonio > Lugano
Harlingen/Brownsville > Locarno
Tyler > Schaffhausen or Solothurn
Corpus Christi > Locarno
Waco + Killeen > Olten
Austin > Luzern
Galveston > Lausanne
Del Rio + Eagle Pass > Basel
Longview > Aarau or Brugg

Awesome! Thank you Wollishofener, this definitely helps in comparing cities, especially since I haven't decided yet which city to live in. Question though, where's the El Paso equivalent :P

Hello, I am a Texan moving to Zurich in the Spring 2011! I hope we can meet when I arrive. Please figure out the housing situation for me and help me when I get there!
I live in Austin, and love Zurich as much as Austin and more.

See you soon!
JJ
Hahaha! Definitely Jesse James, I'll make sure to pass on as much I can!

Dear sir

Welcome in Switzerland. If you are ever in Zurich, look for Sid's Pub in Oerlikon. There is a small English speaking colony there, meets almost dayly.

Texans are the friendliest people on earth!
Hey i was not aware of the english colony in oerlikon and I have lived here since april 2008 But I`m from Chi-town and a "girl"

Welcome Texas

Welcome Texas!!!

If you're thinking of going to Lugano, I can really help you there with home and so on... it's a great city, nice wether warm and sunny (what I'm I doing here then??) and the people are really nice!! But it's a small town... and in the evening there isn't much going on!
Zurich is another story...

Howdy,

I am also from Texas (Dallas) and have been living and working in Basel for the past 6 weeks. I just got back from Dallas today as I went back for Thanksgiving. I found this forum through a colleague and am excited to make new friends!

Hello All !!

I am also from the United States of Texas.

Let me know if you need help orientating yourselves or translations.

If you want low taxes, pick Canton Zug or Schwyz. They
have the lowest in all of Switzerland.

Re: Texan Moving to Switzerland

Hi fellow Texans! My husband and I just moved to Zug a couple months ago from Houston. It's definitely been an interesting experience here and very different, but we like it a lot.

He also wanted me to add to the Texas cities to Swiss cities comparison and note that he thinks that Zug is the Irving of Switzerland -- it's small, quiet, practically a suburb of Zurich, but still has a lot to offer. :-)

This is our first post too, but we've been reading the forum and have found a lot of good information here.

If Lugano is San Antonio ,then Lugano must have the best BBQ in all off Switzerland

When I arrive in Zurich, I will definitely put together a Texas meets Switzerland happy hour. Thank you to all who have written here. I can't wait to get there May 3!
