American girl studying in Zurich next semester :)

Hello!
I'm born and raised American but spent a year as an exchange student in Germany in high school. Now in college I'm excited to be going to the University of Zurich to study for a semester! Still looking for a WG (I have to be there before February 7th) but hopefully all will work out! This place seems nice and I'd love to meet any other students going to UZH/ETH or any of the surrounding schools, whether you're Swiss or from somewhere else

I've always taken it to mean Wohnung, which is basically a place of residence

Among students in Germany, WG is a common abbreviation for Wohngemeinschaft, i.e., a single room in a multi-room apartment.

Grützi!

I have arrived in Switzerland!! I'm living in Männedorf on Lake Zürich and love it already!!! I have a German course and then will be starting at the university, but if anyone would be interested in meeting up I'd love to meet some people, whether it's coffee, a bar, or music...I had a very tight group of friends at home so I need human interaction haha.

Re: American girl studying in Zurich next semester :)

Hey!

Theres a group of girls (plus a dude haha) around your age that meet up on a regular basis - we're mostly au pairs, from all over (one american girl!) usually for some drinks or a wander round town. Gimme a PM if you're interested, may be heading out this saturday night!

And if you like Nirvana (or even just lovely Kurt) then I know me and you will have something to talk about

Re: American girl studying in Zurich next semester :)

WG is the common term here too. There's quite a few WG sites for Zurich.

I'm also studying here, but at the ETH.

Welcome and enjoy

Thanks all! I explored the city a lot today and may have fallen in love with it, 5 months may not be enough!
