From Johannesburg to Montreux...

Hi everyone, I'm Senna. I'm a 23 year old Swiss citizen that grew up in sunny Southern Africa. I'm currently doing an intensive French course so I can hopefully do an apprenticeship at the end of the year. I haven't made any new friends in the 2.5 months I've been here, the Swiss don't seem as friendly as Africans... Anyway thats me

Hi Sengan.
Sorry you slipped under the radar and havent had a "welcome to the forum" note yet, Meisie is usually a good one for paying attention where thats the case.
Anyway, yes, you are right, it is hard to break in to the swiss community. Many have known each other for generations (depending on where you live), and we are often just "fly by night"ers, so they sometimes dont like to make the investment of a new friend.

Keep persistent though, and you will meet some wonderful people. They will however expect to be your friends for life

Hope school is treating you well, and check out the social calender on here, in case you get desperate for a night out. There are a few Meisies around

Hi Senna, welcome to the forum!
yes, you are right about that Swiss are less friendly, or inviting as South Africans. I'm guess you miss the general friendliness of home, i sure do!!
well, hang in there, not all the Swiss are the same, try to steer away from form the conservative types!
all the luck,

and a warm sunny african welcome!

Sanibonani and welcome to the Forum.

The friendly Swiss are easy to find...Just the other day I got fined by a very friendly tram ticket inspector when my monthly pass had expired by a few days.

Welcome to the forum! Certainly the sun and the sympathy may be less abundant but don't stop searching...under the surface there're nice people everywhere even here
