Hello!

I am moving from London to Geneva for a 2 year job placement (office based near the airport) at the end of January 2011.

I am a 26 year old female and hobbies include music (I did a music degree and I play the violin and sing, so hoping to join an orchestra/choir) and I'm also keen on sport - especially looking forward to the skiing!

I don't know a great deal about Geneva, especially where good places to live are. I am also considering a houseshare as this may be cheaper and a good way to meet people/integrate.

Any advice/tips you have would be most appreciated.

Hi LKB33, and welcome to the EF!

One tip is to get onto the accommodation thing early - if you're moving within your current employer's business, get them to have one of the local people give you advice and assistance. If it's a new employer, ask them to give you some moving help. They'll also be able to recommend a good area in Geneva, and those to avoid at all costs.

One big tip, in terms of finding out about social activities, is to search the whole forum - get that Search function working for you!

The biggest problem you may have is not knowing which areas of the city are 'good' or 'bad' for what you like ... but hopefully you've got a good accommodation sorter on your side!
