Hi all

Hi all, just a quick introduction from me. I've been living in Zurich for 7 years now and reading English Forum for the past year. Before Zurich I lived in Manchester. My favourite cafe in Zurich is Cafe Schober, favourite local day trip is to Uetliberg and my fave concerts I've seen since being here are Leonard Cohen, Paolo Nutini, Ting Tings and Take That.

Best wishes

Hi Tuesday, and welcome to the EF!

You need to spread your wings a little, and explore beyond Uetliberg ... there's a lot more you can cover in a day-trip!

Re: Hi all

Welcome .

I saw Paolo Nutini at the Montreux Jazz festival some years ago. He was not well known then but was clearly destined to be and we really enjoyed his performance.

You are so lucky to have seen Take That. I only knew about it after the event . A friend who really ought to have known better and taken me instead of one of his sons couldn't stop raving about and rubbing it in for a long time afterwards. Am still at him for that whenever I see them on TV or hear their music.

Since I've been in Switzerland, I've seen The Eagles, FaithLess, Boyz to Men, Meshell Ndegeocello, Tania Maria, Chaka Khan (also at Montreux) and some other famous musicians whose names I can't recall right now.

Enjoy the forum

Thanks for the welcome. You're right - I'm not much of an explorer but happy to add to my new years resolutions to go beyond Uetliberg... Seriously, if you let me know your fave day trip I will (endeavour to) try it out some time.

Re: Hi all

Just wanted to say thanks to all for the warm welcome. For me Cafe Schober is about the Pain au Raisin and the decor - I'll have to try the hot chocolate another time.

Take That were great - have seen them twice but both times without Robbie so am gutted that they are not coming to Zurich for their Progress tour. Maybe I should go and see them in Milan or Munich.

Re: Hi all

For me, Cafe Schober is about the fizzy water served in those wonderful cut glass carafes.
