Hi from yet another Aussie

Just a quick intro. I'm yet another Aussie who has moved half way round the world with hubby and 2 kids to be closer to other half's family. Currently in Dept 70, France while I look for a Job in Switzerland.

The forum has already been fantastic for info on living in or near Swiss so thanks a million.

Ruth

Re: Hi from yet another Aussie

Welcome to the Forum Ruth,

Stacks of Aussies here for a bit of a 'home town' opinion when you need it.

It's pretty different over here, but you'll get the hang of it in no time.

Spose you'll be moving the French bit?

Good luck with everything.

Get to know the "Search Function" on this site..... it'll be your new best friend.

Hi Bill
sorry about the wait between responses, yes the French bit! Been in France about 8 months getting re-established/reacquainted with family and now moved closer to the border to look for work (I'm oil and gas admin background).
It is very different, that's for sure, which is why the search function has been so brilliant.
The employment agencies are very different to what I'm used to and I'm starting to realise it's going to be a hard slog - really hoping I don't offend anyone with the cross cultural expectations! I'd be much more forward in Oz and depend on my agency more...
I miss Melbourne (peninsula) and the lifestyle, but its a bit tricky when one of you is French and the other an Aussie. We are much closer to the family here and it's been fantastic to see the kids with their grandparents and even great grandparents (tears to eyes and all).
Missing vegemite, brown sugar, fly spray (took me ages to find some and now I can't remember which shop it was), my pool and the beach; bbq's, friends and family. On the otherhand I really hope we can all learn to ski, enjoy the mountains and lakes.
