Re: New in the forum and in CH

Hi, Thanks everyone!!! I am married to a lovely swiss man Xavier. We are living in Fribourg. I would like to study German. I have studied French in Singapore for 3 months. I can understand but I not an expert. I communicate with his mom in french in daily basis. But I would like to try German as it is much easier for me in pronunciation. Btw, anyone who knows a good German course in Bern or Fribourg????

Thanks.

welcome to Switzerland, "gcd1385"! Don't you just miss the Singapore food?
For German Classes, maybe you can check out MigrosKlubschule?

Good Luck!

Re: New in the forum and in CH

Welcome to Fribourg! Been living here for a bit over a year now and I love this beautiful city.

Depending on how much you want to spend, there is an excellent school which can be found here: http://www.vkhs.ch/e_index.htm

I've done the intensive french course there for a year and hope to get a high b2 low c1 level shortly. I imagine the german course is similar in quality. It is very expensive though at 3400chf for a 15 week intensive course (3hrs a day class time).

Otherwise the migro school posted above is also decent (did a beginners french course in fribourg through them) and much cheaper.

Good luck

Welcome to Fribourg, gcd1385,

Migros school is fine, I've been told. And it is not bad to practice french with your mother in law.

This is the introductionary school for the Swiss universities. I wonder if it will continue next year, because the swiss universities have stopped financing the school.

Hi MillsO, so you are just on the other side of the street... I'm somewhere behind the Roman wolf...

Re: New in the forum and in CH

Funding may be cut (well has been) for the swiss university introductory courses but they are trying to find a way to keep the language courses going.
In the meantime language courses are business as usual.
