Thank you all for a nice welcome. I am from the Bay area as well. Nice to know there are others. If there are other Basel activities It would be nice to attend. My Husband and I try to get out as much as possible. Would be great to meet other US locals, and any Brits here as well.
Thanks! |

Welcome SocialButterfly.. don't mind the old world inhabitants | | | | | But are all cookies, biscuits? Those biscuits that have gravey sure don't seem like they would be cookies to me. I grew up with the concept that if it wasn't a cake or a slice, then it was a biscuit - except when it was a pikelet or a scone. Somewhere, cupcakes seemed to have morphed into muffins, which in turn doubled in size. Now cupcakes seem to fighting a comeback. If it has icing and sprinkles, it's not a muffin, right? Cookie has taken over from biscuit internationally, with the spread of USA television - the cookie monster had a lot to do with that. Mmmm, all this talk of food is making me hungry. I think I will go and eat a cracker. Or is that a graham biscuit? | The following 2 users would like to thank biff for this useful post: | |

I believe this page explains the difference between cakes and biscuits: http://www.nicecupofteaandasitdown.c...its/index.php3

To Socialbutterfly: Welcome to the forum. Just don't mind those folks that completely derailed this thread (like me, for instance).

However I appreciate all you nice and kind people.. I really do not feel this is the place for me. WAYYYYYYY TOOOO judge mental and TOOOO OVER OPINIONATED. I was only looking for a place that I could fit in. This is just not it. There are some really cool and nice people here... but the real (sorry to say JERKS)just aren`t enough to make up for all the RUDE remarks. Doesnt matter that other forums fit what is important.. but I have to say that this is the most rude, judge mental, offensive and unkind to new people that I personally experienced ever! I hope down the road (because it doesnt matter to me) that you all find a positive way to welcome your new guests. I have to say a HUGE thank You to the very few that were kind and welcoming... I did send a "thank You" to each of you. For the rest, I have to say that you spoiled it for me.. I have been looking up this site for a year now, and I see most are a bunch of wolves!!! I really do not care to be a part of this. I wish there were people in charge to fix these retarded issues, but I am over it. Wishing the very best to ALL the NICE people out there... I just don`t need all the games and insults and drama.... Best of luck for the good people..
Best wishes!!! I close!

I cannot see a single post that justifies SB's comments... What went wrong here ?
EDIT: Just read the FA posts... This forum is way too tough for delicate petals. She left the light on though.

On reviewing your posting history, I see that your first post was a robust defence of a financial advisory company. A member of EF was sceptical, since many posters have noted very negative experiences with such companies. You took offence at his comments, then followed up with several posts to set out your dissatisfaction with that poster's approach. Then you stated that you didn't like the attitude of some posters here and would be staying clear. A few days later, you posted a sunny, happy introduction to say how much you love EF. Lots of people replied in a friendly, supportive way. You then decided that you don't like this place after all, with no further provocation (unless said friendly, supportive comments were provocative in some way), and flounced for the second time in a week.
Have I got it right?
Please recognise that everyone is entitled to an opinion, and that not everyone is out to get you. You're welcome to stay and enjoy the great resource that is EF, or to leave. The choice is entirely, freely yours.

FA? Help the noob out, please?
I just came in to say welcome! But now I am confused.
Erm, if you are still reading, welcome to Switzerland, SocialButterfly. I hope the rest of it is going way better than the forum did for you.

Financial Adviser/Advisor (depending on your origins).
Dirty word here, thanks to the antics of a couple of disreputable companies who can't and won't be named here.

Welcome OP, or bye, it's confusing. Hope you can stay and make the most of the ton of info this place offers, with some fun. The social events are the highlights here.
Not all the people here share the same sense of humor, nor do we all comunicate in the same way. This is inet, take it with a grain of salt. And, if people disagree with an opinion, it is not personal. This is a platform to share opions and info, and, matters discussed sometimes have some history, so to understand some posts, one has to read up. I am sure the FA post wasn't meant to be offensive if you haven't come here to just advertise.
