Hello from Nidwalden

Hi everyone,

We've been living here for 6 years but somehow have only just found this forum. We moved to Nidwalden for work due to some confusion about whether a short-term contract can roll over, got pregnant, had two children (not in one go!) and now don't intend to leave again. If you know Nidwalden you can probably guess where my husband works. :-)
Our eldest has just started part-time kindergarten here and the Swiss system seems to suit him very well so far. Our daughter will be starting German-language day care in summer. I'm a SAHM and freelance part-time as a translator, and have been an expat in various countries for most of my life, making me more European than British. And I would love to meet other English or French-speaking people in Nidwalden, if there are any.

Did I miss anything? :-)

Mika

Hi Mika, welcome to our forum. Nice introduction. Even after six years in Switzerland you may still find valuable info here, and some fun stuff too.

Re: Hello from Nidwalden

Nice user name, gives a Irish-Swiss ring to it

Welcome to EF, you'll find that French, German and Italian are common as a second (or first) language among EFers, though I'm not too sure how many actually live near Nidwalden.
And we're not allowed to write in another language without translating it.. or the mods get us !!

I do not "know" Nidwalden, but had two three-weeks-stays in Buochs in the 80ies, and so have a rough idea in what field your husband is working
