Ni Hau. I lived in China for three years...
Did I get this right? You lived three years in China and can't spell "Ni Hao"?

Flyinghome: Hi! My in-laws live there, so I have been many times to Beijing (including the not so touristic parts).

I've been here 10+ and I still need to check how to spell Grut Grrüz Grazy hello in Swiss German.

Sorry LiB, normally you're kind of cute, but don't you think it's kind of refreshing and modest that someone doesn't expect that everyone's familiar with his or her city? For example, some would say my fellow Canadians are quite arrogant, traipsing around the world expecting everyone to recognise the flag they feel compelled to stick on everything...

Anyway, welcome to the OP, and while I've never been to Beijing, I've heard a few things about it.

Oh, I know how to say it... in Baseldütch, that is.

"Grüezi wohl Frau Stirnimaa" - is that, like, you know, "Here's to you Mrs Robinson" in Swiss German?

I am sure that Wollishofener knows more about Swiss hippies than me. He was here back then after all...

A question you could pose to most replies to this thread - and most other threads on EF. But I am honoured and a little flattered that you chose mine.
Thanks...

Re: Hello, everyone. Im from china

Great that you even have relatives there! Many foreign people can say more or less some chinese words, but I can understand that it is not easy to remember the spelling. Chinese is quite a different language from English. Just as chinese people also make lots of mistakes when speaking English. But we can understand each other, that's enough.

Living in HongKong is more convenient since a lot of people there speak English quite well.
